Making EZdrummer and Superior Drummer MIDI feel less programmed

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a tool called HumBeat 2 for making programmed drums feel less locked to the grid without manually editing every note.

It sits before EZdrummer or Superior Drummer and adds controlled timing and velocity changes, ghost notes, flams, groove pocket and drummer-style fatigue. The goal is to preserve the original groove while giving repeated sections and fills a little more natural movement.

It works in real time, so you can adjust the feel while the track is playing and export the processed MIDI afterward if needed.

I’d be genuinely interested to hear how other Toontrack users humanize their programmed drums and whether this kind of workflow would be useful in your setup.

I looked at the demos on YouTube a while ago but for some unfathomable reason the developer (presumably the author of the message above) has chosen a Metal drum track to demonstrate it! A genre renowned for its very heavily quantised drumming!
A demonstration using a genre in which a human feel would be more evident might give us an idea whether this software is worth our hard earned cash. Maybe some funk, reggae, Latin or jazz parts instead? S http://www.redtapemusic.net
