ferromagnetism as trigger for e-drum

Hello all,

i have just been wondering if it is possible to use a coil (around a magnet) mounted on a crossmember in the drum and a second magnet mounted under the meshhead to use as a trigger. this would eliminate all talk between the rim piezo and the headtrigger of the drum. of course the meshhead would need some kind of muffling to stop the head from swinging too long, which could lead to misstriggering.
has anybody tried this before or thought about it? if so please tell me.
