    Hi Jake,

thank you for your interest in Toontrack products!

EZdrummer does not have a mapping function (Superior Drummer does, however). Most E-kits however have the possibility to re-map the MIDI signal so you can get the right sound from the right drum. EZdrummer as well as most E-kit manufacturers also follows General MIDI Standard, so you shouldn’t have to tweak the settings that much. If your E-kit don’t have a re-mapping feature, you can in most DAW:s create drum maps to translate the MIDI signals to play back the correct articulation.

EZdrummer owners can http://www.toontrack.com/product/superior-drummer-2/ at a discounted price.

The core library of EZdrummer comes with a selection of drums, but there are plenty of genre based expansion packs you can add to your collection.

EZdrummer does not have a built in sequencer where you create your grooves, but comes with a groove library of 8000+ grooves. In your DAW, you can of course create your own grooves as well.

Hope I answered all your questions.

    Cheers,

Making sure i understand this right. EZDrummer comes with different genre based kits but you cant make your own? (adding or subtracting certain components) Does superior drummer have that kind of function?

The core library of EZdrummer is called Pop/Rock (see more specs here, under the Details tab: https://www.toontrack.com/product/product/ezdrummer-2/). There is also a bunch of expansions which you can add to your collection and these https://www.toontrack.com/products.asp#EZLine are typically genre based. Jazz, Funk and Metal are some of the genres covered.

Each expansion comes with several drums for each ‘slot’, so there’s typically a couple of different snares, toms, cymbals etc which you can switch between and create your own configuration. To mix and match kit pieces from different expansions, you would however need Superior Drummer with its X-drum feature.
