This is an annoying problem. First of all, I want to make clear that the problem I’m going to talk about here is NOT a problem in Toontrack products. It is a phenomenon that I suffer from. I guess most people who have worked with rhythm, groove and timing, acknowledge this problem.
I was working on a song and decided to use the songwriter back, great grooves there. Before inserting the groove into my project, I rehearsed the loop many times. Perfect. Sounds good, feels good. After inserting the groove into the song, I had to move kicks around here and there. Then this phenomenon stroke again: at some points of the song, the interference between the song movement and some kicks being on wrong beat made the groove feel like the performance is 5-10 bpm slower than what it really is. This is most annoying and I don’t know how to fix it. It does not help to make the song suddenly faster per se; then it would sound just faster and different from what it was before the speed change. Somehow it feels like there is a HUGE cap between beats and the flow suddenly just gets so much slower.
