Hi,
Ok so I have Superior Drummer 2.0 and a Roland HD1 kit. Not sure where the problem lies but I can’t get a realistic high hat sound, it’s choppy and unrealistic when working the foot controller while playing.
When listening to the HD1 through headphones plugged directly into the kit, the hi hat sounds realistic. When playing through SD2 in Logic 8 however, it doesn’t sound anywhere near as good. I tried playing a sequence and recording it to see what notes were output, and it came out as follows.
A#1, G#1, F#1 and 4
I then manually entered these values into the Hatstrig articulation as mentioned elsewhere, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. What are all the other notes that are pre-assigned in the GM Extended preset? Such as A#-1, B-2 and D8 for the ‘Closed’ articulation, F#1, C#3 for ‘Closed Tip’ etc. and do they only apply to kits with more advanced midi functionality? Do I need to change the values for these or leave them alone?
Is it a deficiency of the midi in the HD1 i.e. is midi support more ‘advanced’ in high end kits?
As you might be able to tell, I’m quite confused by all this but really want to achieve a realistic sounding hi-hat like it sounds when I’m playing the stand alone HD1 kit through headphones directly plugged into the kit.
