Sometimes a little too quick, and a little too dirty.
Re-recorded some vocals. Think it sounds a little better now, perhaps.

Cool Modern vibe!! Great clean MIX!! and a FUN song (-‘

    P.S. Toontrack’s cymbals ROCK

    Thanks! Glad you liked it!
This time, I tried not to overdo the compression/limiting at the mastering stage. As a consequence, the cymbals were not completely destroyed… Laugh

Hey NICE stuff Man! BIG THICK guitar, cool song GREAT vox too! LOVED the reverb trail on I think the 2nd verse…? Recorded & mixed in 4 hrs sweeeet…You may have already given it a second listen to by now my only tomato/tomaato is this… the drums kinda need a space similar to all your other mix…the frequencies seem to just be stepping all over the rest of the mix a bit…(like a cloudy/muddy sound to me…)

    Thx for this, jeff

Thanks for listening and commenting! And I agree that frequency separation could have been better. I need to learn how to slow down, I think. 🙂

Well played and the drum programming does the job.
I like the tone of your voice. 🙂 Minor critique: You could perhaps consider varying the melody a little, and it would be really cool if you could push your voice to give some more ‘grit’ for the chorus! 🙂
Mixing sounds quite ok in my headphones, although I would perhaps have used less effects on your voice!
    Good work, nice tune!

Now keep the above critique in mind when you listen to my latest effort – clearly I have no idea what I am talking about! Laugh

Sounds great – the combination of the two voices is really nice! Well played and arranged in my opinion.
Congrats to sharing the interest in music with your daughter; a true gift!

Like to know what some sounds are as Tweaked up well its a bit hard to spot.
Is it one of the New Ezy Packs for drums?

    Hi,

    Thank you!
Drums are built on the “modern kit” from EZ Drummer 2, but I pulled down the plug-in’s built-in reverb to zero. Instead I used the EMT 140 plate reverb emulation from Universal Audio with some pre-delay on the snare. For the drum-bus in general I applied a slight reverb effect also with the EMT but adjusted its filter in order not to get too much reverb on the kick drum. To get (a lot) more “dirtiness” and bite (the idea here was for the drum kit to have the leading role, rather than the guitar, on the verse riff) I made extensive use of compression, both on the drum-bus in general and in particular on the snare. Compression on the snare was, if I remember correctly, made with Logic X’s built in VCA style compressor and for the kit as a whole I believe I used the 1176 emulation. A lot of fiddling and tweaking later, I came up with this sound that I loved. 🙂
