You did not mention if you adjusted the EZD2 settings or not. Menu>Settings>e-drums.

I don’t know how else EZD2 can change it’s interpretation of incoming midi. Drum modules control EZD2’s incoming midi. Hopefully support will correct me if I’m wrong.

Each pad on your TD25 produces a specific midi note that in turn triggers a particular instrument in EZD2 via that midi note. You need to go into the TD25 head unit, and ask that specific trigger to change it’s midi note to One Shot (claps) for example.

Check out “Pad Note Number” in the Parameter’s Guide (not the user manual) on page 13.
    here: https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/TD-25_param_e01_W.pdf

Then go into EZD2 to the main Menu>AboutSoundLibraies and select Midi Layout of the kit you are using. Here you can find the correct note for the instrument you’re trying to trigger in the TD25.

Yes I already have EZ drummer2 and love it. I am also trying to purchase “EZ Keys”, but all I can find is the EZKEYS MIDI. and EZKEYS SOUND EXPANSIONS.

    https://www.toontrack.com/ezkeys-line/

Every “EZ Keys Instrument” can be a separate stand alone program or an expansion. You select which you want in the drop down menu when you check out.

Your Midi Controller (keyboard/v-drum kit) is completely different than a Midi Pack that Toontrack is selling. If you buy a Toontrack Midi Drumpack for example, you will have more drum grooves to choose from. Another way to say it is, if you open EZDrummer2 and look on the Browser or Search Tab, there are drum grooves there. Midi Packs will expand your drum groove collection.

An EZX will not only give you more of the aforementioned grooves, but give you new sounds/drumkits as well. Which is why they cost more.

Do not buy an EZX unless you already own EZDrummer2.

When using the Alesis kit as is, no software. Does the hihat pedal work fine? What note is the closed hihat triggering? This note can be changed in the head unit if it’s not triggering the correct closed hihat sound in EZD2.

Not inside EZD2. What drum module/midi controller are you using? This is a common task that is figured out with your hardware.

PreSonus set to “Run as Admin”? If so, maybe run EZD2 as Admin as well. Ignorant guess.

Are you using Toontrack’s Product Manager? If you haven’t downloaded anything from Toontrack for a few years you may not know that you need to use the Product Manager to access your products.

You can not do this directly from EZD2.

One way to do it would be right click on the EZD2 hihat you’re using and select the Details button and decide which articulation you would rather hear than your open hihat.

Then go into your DTX502 and reassign the open hihat note to the EZD2 closed hihat note. “F#1 Closed Tip” for example.

Two computers is the max. If you open up the Toontrack Product Manager and select Details>Authorizations on EZD2, this is where you can activate/deactivate your product as you install/uninstall on different systems.

If you open up the Search Tab in EZD2 and select Show Web Shop Midi, the Library column in the Search Tab will update with Toontrack EZX and Midi Packs you do not yet own. Here in the Library column you can select the product you want to check out and audition the individual beats within. If you find the beat you’re looking for, you can click on the Blue Globe-like magnifying glass, and it will take you to that product page to purchase if you choose.

A more advanced method would be after you click Show Web Shop Midi, you could open the Tap2Find feature and click/perform the beat you’re looking for and see what results come back in the Search Results area. When using your mouse in Tap2Find to record, you can always slow down the tempo to record your performance more easily.

    Hope that helps.

    My pleasure.

Midi notes 108/109 were just an example, assuming that actual number is too high. You have multiple China cymbals there, example #27. We’re chasing work-arounds at this point though.

    Might be unrelated… https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/ezdrummer-2-midi-to-guitar-pro-problem/
“it appears that MIDI channel 10 is permanently allocated to drums in GP and is only limited to the GM spec, so you’re going to miss a number of articulations.”

When you open up the Piano Roll in Reaper, can you not find, or click and trigger which notes will sound a China and troubleshoot from there?

I think your issue, which I assume has nothing to do with how EZD2 is suppose to perform, does not have an obvious or popular solution. Or one of the Toontrack support guys on the forum would have chimed in. If you’re losing patience with it, I would submit an official Toontrack support ticket. I would prime your request with all of the GP info you stated here including “52 in guitar pro is in fact the China cymbal” and so on.

I never have issues like this. But I strictly work in DAW’s Piano Roll or from withing Standalone Toontrack products. I would guess at this point that the language of midi is missing something from GP.

Did a last hail marry google search.  See if there’s anything you’ve missed in here… https://www.sevenstring.org/threads/guitar-pro-ezdrummer.30090/
A lot actually comes up Googling “guitar pro drum midi dfh”. It’s a wormhole for me since I don’t actually use Reaper/GP though.

Hey Bill. You’re saying that the Cowbell is sounding as the Udu? Send another Screen shot, but of where to find the pattern you’re using in the Browser Tab. I don’t know where to find Bongo Bell Pattern Variation 8. I would like to try and recreate your issue. Also, you can drag that midi file you’re having an issue with do your desktop, zip it up and upload it if you can.

I do not know. I also do not know the Guitar Pro workflow.

Note 52 is an E2 midi note. In the PDF, E2 is a China Crash. If I look at the Instrument Panel Details button on the China cymbals, I do not see E2 for any China hits, which is where I got the midi notes from in my original post. I wonder if the documentation I’m referring to has kept up with software updates.

Regardless, I assume you can assign whichever note/number in Guitar Pro? If so, are you aware of the Details Panel for your individual drum instruments? If not, try opening DFH in Reaper, and right click on the China cymbal you like and select the details button. There will be the midi note you’re looking for. Let me know if you’re up and running after that. You can select the tiny “key” button if you want midi numbers instead of notes. Try midi note 109 for example.

You did not specify which version of EZ Drummer 2 you’re on. If it’s not 2.1.8, please update and test before writing back.
