Oops. No, seriously. Oops. operator error. So embarrassed.

Made the 64 bit switch. Had no idea that using 32 bit limited me to 4gb RAM regardless of how much was installed. Now all EZ Drummer kits load. So far in 64 bit all seems to be working except doing so kicked out my Garritan/Aria Engine orchestra virtual instruments. Now onto that…

Will give it all a try. Thanks.

    Henrik,
I believe my MOTU is 64 bit capable, I also use Izotope Alloy and Nectar 2 (I believe those can run 64 bit), Waves (Vocal Rider — also 64 bit) and EZ MIX 2 (that runs 64 bit, yes?). So perhaps I should move to 64 bit and see. After all, what good is 16gb RAM and all these plugs ins if I can’t access them? In any case, the original issue of the error message only presenting when trying to load Modern/Vintage kits, and NOT Jazz/Latin/Pop seems not linked to the 32 bit issue. I did recently move all kits from my iMac system, to my external Gtech, and THEN downloaded updates for them all. Could that have interfered with something?

    Henrik,
Sorry, didn’t see your reply when I added more info. But my reply answered your question in part. But just in case: I was trying to load only ONE instance of EX Drummer 2. And it seems that the error comes when trying to load only the Modern/Vintage kits that came with the EX Drummer 2 purchase. As for running Logic Pro (9.1.8) in 64 bit, I’d rather not. It’s take me a long time to get everything more or less running, and though I love Apple and MOTU 828 Mk3 (my audio interface), every time I upgrade/enhance or simply change a setting, it’s a domino effect of error messages that cost hundred in tech dollars/hours to trouble shoot, with each tech vendor saying it’s the other guys fault… I’m sure you can understand….

    More info:

I have 5 kits: the 2 that came with EZ Drummer 2 (Modern/vintage) and 3 EZX’s: Pop, Latin, Jazz. It seems I only get the “not enough memory/32 bit/remove of instances of EZ Drummer” error message when trying to load the Modern & Vintage kits. The EZX’s I installed load fine. Also, 2 additional questions: are the percussion pads in the upper right corner of the kit windows (often hand claps and tambourines) not mapped to the keyboard anywhere? They seem to be only playable by click on the pad. Finally, When I load EZ Drummer onto a track and I press a key, I can see the corresponding drum instrument (e.g. the snare drum) respond, as well I see signal going into my Logic DAW, yet, when I activate record on my DAW and try to record straight into the DAW, no midi is recorded. It seems I can only record into the EZ Drummer track window itself. Is that the way it’s supposed to function? Thanks for your help.

Agreed, which is why I purchased both Latin and Jazz. Thanks for the quick and on-point replies.

I have an additional question. I have EZ Drummer 2, plus Latin EZX and Jazz EZX expansion kits that I just bought. If I purchase MIDI groove packs (e.g. Pop, Blues, and Rock, and Americana), some of the midi samples are drawn/created from EZX expansion kits that I have not purchased and are not installed. Will midi grooves from Midi packs that are created using EZX expansion drums (eg. if a groove was created using the Nashville EZX or Blues EZX) that I don’t have still work using the kits that are installed on my version of EZ Drummer 2?
