@Support Any update on this feature?   Has it been added to newer releases since my OP?

    Thanks!

Thanks to Toontrack for releasing this update, and thanks for confirming, Glenn.

I have installed 2.0.2 and verified the MIDI channel is now available. But it seems I am still clearly doing something wrong, as I still cannot get this to work.  I welcome any further ideas (and likely some humor at my expense), in the hopes that others may learn along side me in this.  Just not sure what I am doing wrong.  I’ve even RTFM, so that tells you how puzzled I’ve gotten.  HA!

Arturia keyboard – keys transmit on Ch 1, pads on Ch 10.  EZK and EZD Instrument tracks in Studio One, configured the same, as are both EZK and EZD.

Studio One MIDI monitor confirms data on Ch 1 & 10 as expected.  EZK and EZD will both not respond, if I change the Instrument tracks outputs to be anything other than Channels 1 & 10, respectively.  However, when I set them, uh… correctly, to channels 1 and 10, BOTH instruments respond to data on EITHER 1 OR 10.   I just don’t get it.

@Brad – I see you also have Studio One (I am running Pro 6.2.1.x (current).  What am I missing?

    Thanks Bob

As another loyal Toontrack customer (EZD 2&3, EZK 1&2, currently in trial w EZB), I second the request to please open all forums to registered customers of ANY product.

    Thanks

“I believe that is a feature that will be implemented in an update. Brad’s screenshot isn’t accurate to the currently released version. I do not have an ETA on the update release as is currently being beta tested.”

@Scott – I understand you may have limited ability to discuss too much detail about upcoming releases, but can you please confirm that a user-selectable MIDI Input channel, is definitely in the short-term roadmap for EZK?  I just downloaded a demo of EZBass, and unfortunately I see the same missing feature there, so I’d really like to know about EZB also, before I can commit to that product.  Is the feature in the short-term roadmap for EZB too?

I don’t mean to press you on this, but I’m just trying to determine whether I need to help “fight” for this important feature by submitting feature requests for BOTH products, or whether this is a known-shortcoming and already being planned in upcoming patches/maintenance releases of both products.   I’m honestly surprised this feature is missing in the big release of EZK2, and so I’m a little worried that EZK and EZB may not fit my needs without cumbersome workarounds, unless this feature is added.  Selectable MIDI input channel will make EZK and EZB consistent with EZD, and greatly improve the flexibility and workflow options for both products.

    Any additional info MOST appreciated.

    Thank you!
    Bob

Glenn – you raise a good point when you’ve mentioned that the virtual keyboard “filters” the incoming MIDI.

Does anyone know of a MIDI utility plug-in, that allows MIDI data filtering/editing?   Studio One has a MIDI filter but it only filters key ranges/notes.   I’m wondering if there are any advanced utilities out there that will, for instance, filter all MIDI data on specific channels, or “translate” incoming data to a specific channel, etc.  Seems like a MIDI Swiss Army knife would be a pretty straight-forward tool to create, and I can’t imagine I’m the first to need something like this.  Any one have any ideas?   Im gonna do some more searching.

Jordan and Glenn – Thanks for the continued discussion on this topic.

Ive been doing some testing based on both your comments, and here is what I’ve found so far.

In my DAW, I can also set the Track output device and channel.  See attached.  This seems to dictate the data going to the instruments, regardless of the channel of the incoming data from the controller keyboard.  However, its seems that EZK responds to messages for ALL DEVICES and ALL CHANNELS.  I guess I (mis)understood that “Omni” actually implies “…in the context of THAT instrument.”  So while I expected that EZK (any instrument) might respond to all 16 channels for THAT DEVICE, it seems odd to me, that an instrument would respond  to data for ALL devices.  This could definitely be “user error” on my part!  ha!

Maybe I’ve just never come across this scenario before (always learning).  But in spite of EZK not (yet – please hurry! 8-\ ) allowing us to specify a channel like EZD does, it seems odd that it responds to other devices’ messages.   See my complete results attached.  Sorry for the extremely geeky spreadsheet, but Im an engineer, its the way my brain is wired.

    Any additional feedback appreciated.

Ugh.  Ok, appreciate the clarification, Scott.
I’ll add my +1 for this feature being needed ASAP to keep parity with other EZ Line products.

I will gladly be a beta tester for new releases if that’s an option.  If so please let me know.

    Thanks

    Bob

    Thanks for the response, guys.

Brad – That’s exactly where I looked for the MIDI channel setting, but as Glenn mentioned with his Win version, I have no such option in my OSX version like you do.  This is very strange.  I’m even more puzzled now….

    I confirmed I am running EZK 2.01.   I am running OSX 12.6.7.
