Keeping this thread alive. A customer since the original DFH Superior (1.0). I hadn’t worked on material where I needed MIDI-based drums in years, and had other snappy tools for sample replecement so didn’t follow the S3 related news so missed this whole things. In 2024 a project came about where i would have happily upgraded to 3.0 if my Superior 2 license allowed upgrading, like with *any* other software company. As things stand, I will never, ever purchase a Toontrack product in the future, until my previous investments are honoured.

A few further points: No, “there’s a sale now” is not enough – every other company, really *all of them* add the upgrade discount to sales, so during a sale the upgrade is proportionally even cheaper.

Also, yes sometimes there’s a “special upgrade” for fast converters, but removing the upgrade price completely after the fact is unheard of before this stunt. Toontrack really should add this upgrade option back (especially as EZ2 owners got extended upgrade options). Disgruntled users who had to purchase SD3 for full price while owning SD2 should also be compensated somehow, at least give them some goody samples as a token of goodwill.
