Thank you. Â
Do you want me to upload your project that has been re-saved with 3.1.2?
It should allow you to work a while before 3.1.2. arrives to you guys.
Also, do you actually use any CC values for anything or do you want me to strip those events as well? (they are what is causing the project to become corrupt due to the bugs and it could potentially happen again until the update is out).
I see there is a lot going on but it appears the CC is not actually used for anything (unless you are using MIDI out to something else?)

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that we have fixed some bugs we found thanks to your projects.
Hopefully you will be able to open and use your projects again without problems, I can’t give you an ETA for the 3.1.2 update but it should be out soon 🙂
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for helping us find these bugs!

What version of Superior Drummer 3 are you running?
I know we have had a bug previously where moving MIDI events (specifically CC/AT) would create duplicates in some situations, leading to a massive increase in the number of events, eventually leading to slow downs like the ones you describe here.

Hi and thanks for the bug report!
I have started looking into this but cant seem to find a good way to reproduce the bug.
Can you upload a Superior 3 project file where this bug is happening so I can check whats going on?

I can confirm this crash and have made a fix for it, hopefully a patch will be out quite quickly.
Thanks for reporting it and sorry for the inconvenience!

The only thing I still can’t get my head around is why it would categorise a ‘Verse 1’ groove as a Verse but a ‘Verse 4’ groove as an intro, considering the variations between the grooves are minimal and the ‘Verse 4’ groove is more complex? Â
Actually now that I think about it, that is a bug, in EZD2 if you use a verse it will always end up as a verse in song creator.
I will fix that, thanks for making us aware of it! 🙂

I can understand the confusion, this is however not how the song creator operates, it actually uses all your available MIDI to try and find different matching parts to give you suggestions based on the file you used as input, it will not use variations from only the same song since that would be equal to just browse through that song folder, it will instead try to be smart about it and select loops that could create some interesting song writing choices.
You can right click the different files and select “Show in browser” and you will notice that the results are not only from the “Slightly Heavy 78 BPM” folder (Maybe, it depends on what MIDI you have and how it relates to the source file)
This is also the reason why some of your input files end up as intro and others as verse, it all depends on what it finds and where you source file fits in that list of suggestions.
If you just want to use verse/chorus etc from that particular song its much better to just use the browser.
If you want to list everything from that song (as I guess is what you are trying to use the song creator for) you can multi select folders by holding down cmd and then you can click the name column to sort on name to get it better organized. See picture.
Hope that helps 🙂

1) toontrack midi
2) no it happens every time I start an instance of cubase.
3) the MidiDB file size is 116484 kb, the date modified is 11/13/2017 at 8:44pm. Which is when I had to restore the midi database.
4) song creator doesn’t just stop working, it doesn’t work at all or should I say doesn’t find any other midi matches.
It seems as though only the song creator is not working properly, tap to find works(on its own) and previewing other grooves works. Song creator is the only issue that I am aware of. Once I restore midi everything works. Â
Edit: I found and fixed the issue, it will be included in a future patch (a patch is about to be released so this will not make it into that one unfortunately)
Thanks for your help 🙂
Until then you actually dont need to rebuild the database if you dont want to, you just need to drag another file (or the same one) onto the song creator to search again and it should work.

I have had to restore midi database every time I go to use the song creator. After I restore I can use the feature, but next time I load up cubase I have to restore midi database again. What now? Â
We have had one report of this bug previously but has so far failed to locate the cause.
If you could help out by answering a few questions it would be very useful for us 🙂
1) What MIDI file are you using in the song creator (is it a Toontrack MIDI file or something you made yourself / 3rd party MIDI?)
2) Does this only happen once you have added your User MIDI / 3rd Party MIDI?
3) The next time you launch Cubase and the song creator stops working, could you please check your C:/Users/”Your user”/AppData/Roaming/Toontrack/Superior3 folder for a file called MidiDB. What size does it have? If you check the “Date modified” column, does it appear to have been changed when you launched Cubase?
4) When the song creator stops working, is everything else in the grooves section working as intended? (Tap2Find or just browsing and previewing grooves as normal)
Sorry for the inconvenience, we are working on it and I hope we can get it resolved as soon as possible!

I have a related question, in that my midi database keeps disappearing most days. I’ll open a project and go to song creator, and tap to find etc and get no results, then I realise my midi database has vanished so I have to go to settings and restore it, then each third party file set (Groove Monkey etc). I have even got an ‘error midi database lost’ or suchlike, and have to rescan again. This is happening most days, sometimes a few times a day. Am guessing a bug that needs fixing? I know how to fix it as in rescan database, but I don’t want to be doing that most sessions! Any thoughts Toontrack Dudes? (Sorry to hijack thread but couldn’t find solution)Â Â
That sounds very strange indeed and not at all how it should work.
I need some information to try and understand what could go wrong for you.
1) What windows version do you use? (I checked your previous posts and gathered you at least run windows and not MAC right?)
2) What DAW do you use and do you sometimes also use the stand alone application?
3) Can you see if you have an “errorlog.doc” file in your “C:/ProgramData/Toontrack/Superior3” folder, please post it here if you do. (The “ProgramData” folder is hidden so you might need to enable “Hidden Items” under “View” in File Explorer.
4) Next time your database vanishes, can you check in C:/Users/”Your user”/AppData/Roaming/Toontrack/Superior3 for a file “MidiDB”, is it there and what size does it have? Also in the same folder there is a “MidiDB-wal” file, what size does that have?
Sorry for the inconvenience!
