I don’t know if I should lol, weep in despair, or fly into a rage. I hope this is just very funny satirical commentary. As such…

    LOL!!!

I don’t suppose there are any drum tabs available online. If, however, there are you could use http://2112design.com/ to convert them to MIDI files. It would be up to you to humanize them although Jamstix might be able to help in that regard.

Is this the NBT because lately I keep coming across references to it? Listened to a bit of it on YouTube, Finntroll was a standout, and am intrigued by most of it. The promotional videos were quite entertaining and the well recorded clips from live performances stood up very well. Seems like you could combine some edited files from the Rock and Extreme MIDI packs for the performances; maybe use Jamstix to help make them more your own and do some appropriate processing.

I could be wrong, but I think there is resistance from many studios to having their rooms sampled.

    You are not wrong.

Makes a lot of sense. Maybe seeking out studios or rooms that are being mothballed would be a partial answer? I like the concept of saving a studio’s sound for posterity if nothing else.

Ultimately, it appears that EZConvolutionReverb will remain wishful thinking.

John, thanks. I think I installed it correctly but I did manually move the MIDI files to my sample HD. How much of a problem will this create and could I copy the files back to their default location to rectify the situation. MIDI files are small so it seems more expedient to have two MIDI file folders than to reinstall everything.

I know it’s been forever but I feel a responsibility to point out that Martin was quite right and I was overreacting a bit. Better late than never.

    Thanks, Martin.

Anyone else think a few kits from the 50’s recorded at Sun Studio would be a nice addition to the SDX line?

I find it hard to believe that Toontrack didn’t take a look at Pianoteq and Harmony Improvisator while developing EZKeys. However, I don’t see any evidence of this in the final product. Everyone can appreciate a unique idea but to ignore excellent features in other products and not incorporating similar features in order to create a better product than the competition’s seems counterproductive to me. At this price point I would expect an integrated MIDI recorder at least.

Pianoteq’s ability to record MIDI files is brilliant. If I want to sit down and write without the distraction of opening my full DAW but still capture my work as a MIDI file it’s dead simple in Pianoteq. Harmony Improvisator’s straightforward approach to auditioning chord progressions with a mouse click, presenting suggested alternates, then dragging selected chords into a staff to begin editing is equally brilliant. I do think Harmony Improvisator’s chord selection interface should be based on the circle of fifths like EZKeys is, however.

I think Toontrack has missed some important opportunities to achieve greatness with EZKeys in the same fashion as they did with EZPlayer. Maybe it was for the sake of financial expediency and getting to market quickly because both products seem unfinished or underdeveloped to me. I hate to see a company I admire and wish to succeed miss opportunities like this. The other explanation is the whole “EZ” direction they have taken; EZMusicians outnumber musicians by a vast majority and are much less demanding.

I’m wondering the same thing. I’ve read a few posts from Nashville EZX owners who were not happy about the idea of paying the same price as everyone else for Music City. Seems a reasonable criticism.

I also had to move my MIDI expansion pack files from the OS drive to my “Samples” drive because there is no option for a custom install. Now, inside the “Midi” folder created by the installer there are almost 1813 folders with cryptic names, most of them empty. My “Songwtiter’s drumpack has a “200@_BALLAD” folder. I thpught it would have some great straight ahead slower tempo beats but it’s empty. None of this makes any sense to me.

Okay, so I finished installing and I have to say it is not an easy process. Everything is on a separate HD including MIDI file. Unfortunately, any “preset is installed with no indication as to where.
