Yes, you need the updated S2.4. We have a release candidate in testing and hope to be able to release it soon.

    >are you saying EZD2 is 24 bit and new releases will be in 24 bit ?

No, they sit somewhere in between EZD1 and SD2 and they are
still ‘pre-mixed’. The aim has been to resolve the noise floor.
This was needed to make our own presets with added effects
impeccable regarding sound quality. The size in RAM of these
new kits are around 700MB, i.e. considerably more than the 300,
or so, of an EZX. A sizeable part of that increase is more bits.
New EZX2:s are likely to be similar in that respect.

SD2 users that buy EZD2 would probably do that mostly to
get the new song writing MIDI functionality but EZD2 comes
with two excellent new sound libraries that are not 16 bit.

Yes, EZXs contain new samples. I.e. new instruments in
    a new room.

You can think about MIDI as notation for computers

EZXs are EZdrummer eXpansion packs and mainly contain new sounds.
They also come with some MIDI.

A MIDI pack is just MIDI.

About the change from 13 digit Machine Id to 21 digits.
It was a change we made a year or two back in order to
improve the situation for people who change their network
setup frequently. The old shorter Ids and authorization keys
still work the same way they did before but the new longer ones
will be used for new authorizations and they will be more
likely to not need reauthorization when really none should be
    needed.

Are you all having that in common that you have authorized your
EZXs with Superior rather than with EZ1? Could it be that
you have your EZXs added like SDXs to Superior?

    > EZD2 is completely backwards compatible with EZD1.

    Yes, it is.

However, there is an issue in Sonar that makes the routing from other
VSTs go crazy when EZ1 is replaced by EZ2. There is also a bug in EZ2.0.0
with existing projects that use many instances, more than 8.
