Then why don’t they cost the same, and why is SD 3 something to upgrade to. BTW, I didn’t say ‘lesser’ just more basic. Which supports my point.
I’m not a producer, don’t have a commercial studio, and don’t create MIDI live with other musicians, I wanted SD 3 for the advanced libraries and more tweakable mixing.
You would, I assume want people to move to SD 3 for those and other reasons, yet why would they want to lose an obviously valuable (and seeming great from what I’ve seen in tutorial videos) feature when they’re about to, in their eyes, upgrade and pay more.
SD 3 should have Bandmate, and as I said, I believe it will.
SD 3 is the premium drummer app from Toontrack.
To have such a useful feature in the more basic program but not the premium program seems counter to good business practice.
I think they’ll be adding it to SD 3 soon.
Thanks for that detailed, technical response.
My original post addressed what was, and is, for me the simple issue of feeling like the sound, power and vibe is going to serve the current song I’m working on. And invariably, another libraries’ energy and overall feeling win out over the SD 3 sounds. I always find it curious that this amazingly deep and capable tool that Toontrack has developed, doesn’t for me, translate over to the sounds that came with it. My go to’s are Nashville, Americana and Indie Folk. Just my humble opinion.
Thanks POD. I’m starting to get the picture now as you and and others have mentioned tweaking the drums in SD3 . I don’t tweak the drums in any EZX or SDX. I take it on faith that the engineers working on those sounds have better ears and better equipment regarding drums than I do. Sometimes I’ll replace a piece but other than that I looking for a vibe to complement the song and just don’t get that with the SD kits. Also, and I know this is nit picky, searching seems more difficult with so many choices. If I choose a kit and reject it, I have to find again a similar whose signature kit it’s in three layers deep in the presets. I will say again, I love SD 3 for all it’s amazing features, but I don’t use its kits. This has been an illuminating discussion though, thanks again.
Do not want to be mis interpreted, SD and Toontrack are amazing tools and a miracle for someone like myself who was using Drumdrops in the 70s and razor blades in the 80s. I frequently remind myself how much this technology is helping my recordings. I just am always let down when I explore the core kits and presets, weak and too wet.
But as I’ve said, I’ll keep trying.
Yes thank you. Haven’t found anything usable yet but these comments will help.
Thanks for that I’ll keep trying!
Hi hat manipulation by a good player is extremely individualistic and virtually impossible to program to sound natural because natural has infinite variation and nuance. The best you can do is to edit hit by hit the articulations and velocity. A more reasonable approach is to program a measure or two and use it throughout. I’ve also found that by adding fills, each one has a slightly different hi hat approach, this can help give the illusion of reality. I sometimes just play and record a real hi hat track.
Similar issues for me with DP9.52.

Just purchased ez keys, (2/28/20) Song track plays great along with host (DP) then the export is badly out of time and extended larger than original file. Tried both dragging and exporting, yet the rendered WAVE file is correct. Need to edit the midi file in DP. Editing functions in Toontrack not nearly good enough to create a polished result.
latest version of EZkeys as of 2/28/20
Thanks
Thank you,
Is the grand piano in The Essential Pianos bundle the same as the Studio Grand.
Thanks
Downloads 1 and 2, which I think are all that’s necessary, add up to about 80gb.
I wasn’t referring to how well they play, just to the load time, which is kind of important. Of course they’re going to sound the same. The issue of not overloading a SSD is based on multiple sources in literature. Just suggesting.
Thanks
