I’ve noticed that there are claves in the “Pop” EZX, Fizbin.
I can’t tell you anything about them as sounds. I’ve bought too many EZXs on a whim lately, so I dont want to download this one just to check, but they’re there with some Goat Hooves and Turkish and Egyptian bells.
The whole library looks like a bit of a mashup from other libraries, I don’t know whether anything was recorded specifically for this EZX or if it is all from other libraries. Mikael Emsing is credited, on the percussion there are also shakers, maracas, cabasa, tambourine along with claps and snaps -some/much/all of this may have come from the LP EZX or its outtakes, I suppose.
Conspiracy theoy! -maybe this is where the missing claves went!…
Comments please TT??

I think you’ll need to do this in your host program Quigs, it’s not something you do in SD2 itself.
What is your host? I know how to do this in REAPER (my host), but you could do with someone who uses the same DAW as yourself…
As Fizbin says, a piano roll with the drum map for the library you’re using is the way to do it. I have map files for REAPER’s MIDI editor if you want, but only helpful if you use REAPER…

Aww, my SDX boxes make my studio shelves look pretty, and those MIDI virtual boxes look so fat

Just out of interest, is ththere a physical, boxed version of these products that can be ordered or are the boxes illustrated purely marketing fiction??

Think what an awesome “making of” video would come out of it though…

I’m up for number 1.
We have Bongos (along with Congas, etc) in the LP EZX, so for No2 I’d like African drums and an Indian drum EZX/SDX.

Dunno then, perhaps we could ask him his reasoning -was it an omission or does he have a “thingh” against claves? 🙂

I think Mikael Emsing wanted to record a more contempory library rather than an “authentic” or “ethnic” one. He felt there were already plenty of those and wanted the LP EZX to suit or accompany modern music.
I don’t want to appear to be putting words into his mouth, but although I noticed the claves were missing, I havent really missed them; I presumed that maybe he didn’t use them.
If you run LP in SD2, try using the large and small wood blocks, raised 8 semitones or so with 3 or 4 dB attack and 6dB or so sustain on the transient processor -sounds quite like a clave and certainly cuts easily through most music, nice with plenty of ambient mic added.
I hope this helps

You need to go back to the retailer and get a new serial number or your money back. Somebody has screwed up, by the sounds of it…

You do see the poor sod’s point though? It would leave a thoroughly bad taste in my mouth if this had hapened to me.
Nobody thought of trying to sweeten him at all? -especially when the TT business model thrives on customers purchasing further libraries?
Just an idea…

I don’t think so. REAPER has a “virtual” MIDI keyboard and you can play that to create MIDI notes to send to EZD.
Download REAPER if EZD won’t do it…

Thanks Scott, I never would have noticed that.

If you drag any of the beats from the EZDrummer window to PT’s MIDI editor, do they sound the same or Thin also? If he same, it might be down to your drum pragramming/arranging. If thin, then there’s another issue, although as there’s only MIDI nots, etc being sent from EZD to PT’s ME, I don’t know what it is.
If it’s a programming or arranging issue, try dragging some beats across and modifying them. Compare the EZD beats with yours to see what differences there are…

ORIGINAL: juicy
Understood.
i Love it when a product jumps at me and i just have to have it,but i don’t quite get this one.
Very niche perhaps best suited for fully Non keyboard players with heaps of time on there hands unlike EZdrummer
which works so well on more levels.
But isn’t EZdrummer designed to help non-drummers, surely? That’s part of its appeal, it makes it possible for drummers and non-drummers alike to put realistic beats together (hence the MIDI grooves?) and come out with a drum line for their songs?
