    Hi Brad

I use Google Drive to share my projects and some libraries between machines. So they can be anywhere in the world with Internet access for the syncing and then work offline with local copies and then upload again when online. But most of the time upload in real time as i’m usually connected to the internet. (Aside: I use Synology Drive at home to make the upload from my PC really quick as that’s on the LAN, then synology does the upload to Google Drive. I don’t have fibre where i live.)

Kick.wav was just an example of one part of live recorded drum kit i would be mixing (usually a Cambridge-MT track for practise). So there would be all the other elements of a drum kit eg snare top, snare bottom, toms etc . The name was just an example .

    Hi

Sorry i’m using SD3 as a plugin (within Reaper). I didn’t make that clear.

Using Reaper means i can easily share projects (using Google Drive) between OS’s/Machines. I have a MacBookPro and Windows Desktop

However, when i load a track into SD3, SD3  uses the full path so in Windows it will be D:\GoogleDrive\Audio\Kick.wav but in MacOs it will be Users/MBI/GoogleDrive/Kick.Wav so when i open the Reaper project with SD3 on the other OS from where i last used it, it can’t find the audio file that is loaded into SD3.  (Reapers uses relative paths. So when i open my project it looks for files in the folder and subfolders from where the project it located) So it would be nice if SD3 could use relative paths.

    Thank you for replying

Any kit that has all the instrument slots loaded would be a good starting point.

My personal favorite is the Premier Genista, but that doesn’t have a Tom 3. You could load in one from another kit, though. I didn’t bother since my physical edrum setup has one racktom and two floortoms. I first spend a good amount of time getting my triggering and velocity mappings just right. Second,  I enable bleed on all microphones and only use the near room mics, which gives me the most realistic sounding experience from a drummer’s perspective. I then create busses for kick, snare, hats, and toms, and route those to the outputs I need.

Stuff like EQ and compression is added on a per-kit basis, as needed or desired, when I swap out kit pieces. I then save those configurations as user presets, all based on my initial setup.

Of course, if my physical situation ever changes (say I add a new trigger pad or a different audio interface) I would need to update all my user kits, or start over, but in the absence of a global config option this still is the most efficient method for me.

Thanks i think i have a bit of work ahead of me 🙂 But at least i know that’s the way to do it! And i’m not doing something stupid as per usual!

Edit. I guess I can just build my own kit and then change sounds as required and save as.

That’s how I have been doing it. Even in standalone. My audio interface has 8 output channels, and I use 1&2 for my main monitor, and 3&4 for my headphone mix. I’ve set up bussing to make this work, and it turns out it’s just easier/quicker to replace drums and cymbals rather than recreating my routings every time.

Another benefit is that this way you can create a mixer template with bleeds, panning, EQs, compressors and other miscellaneous processing and just load in the instruments you like, tweak it a bit, then save it as a user preset.

    Thank you.

What kit did you start from?

Or should i ask,   what would be the best starting kit to use. i.e the one with the most instruments and mics etc? The Neil Peart kit 🙂

Okay the very simple work around seems to be dropping the obw files from the sounds folder into the SL-SuperiorDummer3/Sounds folder. Hope that’s all i need to do!?

I have moved the original install from my NAS Drive to the attached SSD Drive. Is the installer looking somewhere in the registry for the location of the Library?

Further info. The Part1 Sound library is 1.1.3 on the path E:\Reaper\SD3\SL-SuperiorDrummer3

The Part 2 installed PArt is same as above: E:\Reaper\SD3\SL-SuperiorDrummer3

I’ve removed the Read-only permissions from this folder and it’s contents.

    Hi Ian,

I have the Progressive Foundry and Roots SDX (both the Brushes, Rods & Mallets one and the Sticks ones) if either of those are of interest?

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Hi Michael

I’m still waiting to buy SD3. Long story.

But I’m not sure those would suit. But I’d have to check out the core libraries first.

    Thanks

    Thanks Scott

I meant SD3 plus all the SDXs.

However, some helpful users, including a seller! suggested I buy just the standard pack.. Get used to it, then decide what I need. No point buying everything at the beginning without taking the time to see if there’s what I need. And if I need grooves, just buy the midi packs separately.

ButI didn’t know about the part where you can buy from the shop. Kinda like loopcloud. That’s really helpful. Like yourself and others on here..

    Thanks
