What do you do in Edit Play Style to make it crash?

Moving “Opening Hit” or “Power Hand” around the kit but it seems like it could be anything I touch !

Sometimes the Power Hand is missing in Edit Play Style!

Could you upload some project (a zipped .sd3p file) where the Edit Play Style issues can be produced, please?

Been trying to make it happen for the last half hour and it’s typically steady as a rock 🙂

Can’t seem to reproduce it !

The only thing I know I have changed is that I uninstalled and reinstalled my graphic drivers due to my desktop icons changed places every time I started my PC.

But the Song Creator issue is still there.

    But here is another issue:

I have a dual monitor setup and when I use the grid editor in SD3 on the right screen the cursor (or Playhead) in Studio One 5 occasionally freezes on the left screen.

    Same here !

Lots of dump files generated here.

3,22 is crashing a lot on my system ( WIN 10 Pro ).

It crashes Studio One 5 and I have to restart my DAW.

It occurs when I am working with “Edit Play Style” and the “Song Creator”

    Dump files attached

Is there a more elegant solution to this now? It makes loops act in odd ways. I’m also an Ex-Logic Pro drummer and used that feature quite a lot. Big part of the beat

You can use 1/128, Milliseconds or Resolution as values ( Options > Nudge Unit )

I use keyboard shortcuts to move selected notes left and right by holding CTRL and using the left and right buttons on my PC keyboard.

    Works great !

    Thanks for your comment, scdbs.

Yes, I used this trick with Superior Drummer 2. However, SD3 now supports a new “User Libraries | User MIDI” in the Grooves panel with more and new functionalty:
    1. SD3 contains a new “Add subfolders” button on the User MIDI to create new directories inside SD3. That’s not available on “Factory” Midi directories.
    2. SD3 contains a new “Sync File Changes” button on the User MIDI to synchronize file changes on disk. That’s also not available on Midi directories.
    3. Manually modifying the Midi directory requires a restart of SD3. That’s not needed with the “User Midi” which can be used inside SD3.
    4. The “restore MIDI database” is an emergency button, because it erases all favorites and rebuilds the MIDI database.

I like the new “User MIDI” directory and is a great improvement compared with SD2. So my feature request is to put this folder on top of the list. Kiss

I would also like to have the User MIDI on top and same goes for the User Preset menu !

There should also be a button for adding all to database instead of having to click and wait for each and every MIDI groove library after every time that you’ve clicked the Restore MIDI database button under the advanced menu setting.

In the manual it says that you can set the value of the nudge and there is also an image showing it !

But there simply isn’t any setting for it on the GUI of my SD3 version 3.1.5 ???

Well, it sounds like something is set up very wrong, so I suggest you ZIP your Studio One Project (without Audio files) and attach to a post here so we may have a look.

Here is a test for you to try !

I just checked and found out that if i don’t use the Limiter Pedal effect in SD3 I have to boost the SD3 input channel sensitivity in Studio One to +24dB to be able to hear it at a similar level as the rest of the tracks (MIDI and Audio Tracks) ???

Am I missing something obvious here ???

That sounds more like a case of everything else being too loud.

    jord

    Actually no !

On the master meters output in Studio One everything else like soft synths and audio tracks shows normal output levels !

if I want SD3 to be on the same level without boosting it in Studio One the only way is to use the Limiter Pedal effect in SD3 on the SD3 outputs.

SD3 has a great dynamic range. What I do notice is that the output is quieter than sd2. I found just turning up the main volume (bottom right) made a huge difference.

If I have a couple of tracks, say one with SD3 and another with MIDI Piano or synth in my DAW, SD3 has way way lower output than the keyboard if i just play my keyboard or playing some of the grooves.

I have to use the Limiter Pedal effect on the outputs to be able to even hear SD3.

    PS

    The level ( @ Lower right )

Thank you so much. Yes, the important thing for me was to be able to adjust so that the input into SD3 with the Atom gets the right drums, but that I am able to play  back old sessions in Studio One with the VST version of SD. Sort of mixing old and new worlds of controllers.

    Thanks!

    Hi there Neil Zaza !

I am very keen on the Atom but I heard that colour coded pads wont work with SD3 ???

    Is that true ???

    Cheers !

    Hi John

    Yes that is correct !

Only when working with the Song Track.

I haven’t been able to replicate it in a while for some reason though ?

I actually found out that you could contact support and that was what I did :).

Apart from these issues and a few suggestions I am totally loving SD3.

    Thanks

Are Toontrack monitoring this forum at all?

They don’t seem to have dedicated bug support !

I thought bugs like these was taken care of  long time ago since the software is almost 2 years old !

I really love the program and hope Toontrack can fix all bugs !
