Well, never got any feedback on this forum and never totally resolved the problem, but I did find a workaround. Rather than using a USB-MIDI cable to connect to my computer, I bought and am using a Roland USB MIDI Interface (UM-ONE). That seems to be working fine, with no issues triggering EZ Drummer 2. I hope this is helpful to anyone out there experiencing a similar problem. Cheers!
Here is an audio recording of the error (around the 25-second mark):

It’s not really a “pop” like I previously described. More like all sounds trigger at once then it cuts off.
Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide to address this problem.
Hi Tony, I’m using EZ Drummer with an Alesis Crimson II and having great results.
John, thank you for the quick reply. After my original post, I found a workaround: if I select “Roland” under MIDI Mapping rather than “Alesis”, then it maps to the correct toms. “Alesis Crimson II” does correctly appear under MIDI Device. Since it is now working properly using the Roland MIDI Mapping, I should be in good shape. This way, I won’t need to edit the MIDI note in my module.
