hi Tony, i don’t know if this will help but i’ll tell you what i do in studio one with SD3.
i find a groove that will work with the song, i drag the groove into the SD track then I play a scratch track, usually just a guitar and VOX then i go back and start adding fills, choruses etc.
sometimes i’ll put a groove in the song builder thing that SD has but i mostly use that to store something i know i will want later. i found SD3 a bit confusing compared to SD2 or EZdrummer 1. there are so many features and extra things i will never use.
i hope that helps, i have never actually “answered” a question here before. over the last 6 or 7 years i have asked many, many questions and always found help by people who are way more knowledgeable than me.

Thanked by: TFMhi again, yes there seems to be a problem with the Hit Factory program. when i return to my studio tomorrow i’ll see if i can figure it out. all things Toontrack are up to date.
hi, i’m sorry but i have no idea what you’re talking about. could you please explain.
thanks
jp
thank you Henrik, that helps quite a bit. i was going at it backward. what a surprise.
hey man, thanks so much. to answer you, i am using SD3 in studio one, and you answered my question. if i double click on the NAME of the groove it plays the correct amount of bars. i was double clicking on the play button i get one beat.
i wonder how i can forget such things being a superior drummer user for quite a few years now.
again, thank you for your time.

hi, i did RESTORE MIDI DATABASE and the problem with song creator seems to be fixed, however, the double click to audition a grove does not work. if i click the grove once it plays normally, but when i double click i get one beat.
any more ideas?
thanks jp
hi john, thanks for responding, what i did here is copied the information from HELP>ABOUT SUPERIOR DRUMMER. is this the information you need?
also, i didn’t get an email alerting me telling me i have received an answer from the forum.
now i’m going to restore midi base
thanks so much for your help

hi Henrik, thanks for getting back to me. according to the toontrack product manager my SD3 version is 1.0,0 then under that it says “a newer version is installed” going down the list I see UPDATES SOUND LIBRARY AND PRESETS 1.0.0 then CORE MIDI 1.0.0 then SOUND LIBRARY UPDATES AND PRESETS 1.0.1
next to the last two items it says DOWNLOAD STATUS DELIETED
INSTALLATION STATUS INSTALLED
i’m using SONAR PLATINUM
I hope this is the correct information for you to help me out with this.
I look forward to your thoughts.
thanks so much

yes indeed, i’m working on a song now with SD3 and trying to figure out how to work this thing. The song is really a test project. however, i have to agree that not being able to know which clip is which is annoying. in SDX there was that weird code toontrack used which was hard to figure out but then at least one can look for the clip.
hi, i have a solution (i think). what im doing so far is, after i drag the groove into sonar i highlight it then rename it in sonar. please let me know if this helps.
