Sorry this was a while ago so I don’t exactly remember.

I think I downloaded and installed everything to an external hd, then manually moved the installed files to my internal drive to get around the installer’s weird issue mis-reading available space.
Then in the SD3 settings you can go to Libraries and set the path to the new location.

Installed the update and it’s working now, many thanks!

Unfortunately not, I had to redownload everything to an external hard drive and install from there.

I used the Standard Installation size, the one without bleed that usually says “Default Mic Setup. This is a partial install of the library featuring all close, primary overhead and all room microphones. This is the minimum install for the default presets to sound as intended.”

For reference, here are the sizes and the last .obw file in the Sounds folder – you could try deleting any higher than that if you’re trying to downsize from full bleed, but I can’t confirm it will work:

    Area 33 – 115.42 GB, soundb64.obw

Hitmaker (without Hitmaker Machines) – 50.57 GB, soundb31.obw

    Legacy of Rock – 121.07 GB, soundb74.obw

    Fields of Rock – 105.89 GB, Dry – soundb23.obw,
    Live – soundb10.obw,
    Percussion – soundb2.obw,
    Stone – soundb27obw

    Hi gearnerd, great to hear.
I see you deal in euros, would you do it for 35 EUR?

I have not found a solution either other than saving a “Kit Preset” for every SDX I own which is kinda of pain in the…

You shouldn’t have to do that. As I asked earlier – did you click ‘use preset’ after you created and saved the preset? Mapping pads isn’t the easiest thing to do in SD3. What I do is to not use the ‘tap pad etc.’ business. I know exactly what MIDI messages my pads send and I make the changes manually in the listing on the left side of the page. Is there a Roland preset that is close to what you have? I know there are errors in some of the mapping presets particularly the General MIDI preset (the rack toms are not correct as they don’t allow for 4 rack toms that the GM spec allows).

Yes, whenever I open the MIDI In/E-drums settings, ‘use preset’ is already selected and I can see the name of my preset. I can tell that the preset is active because some of my mappings work, but not all of them and not consistently. It seems as if there’s other midi stuff going when I load a new kit preset that’s interefering with/overriding my mappings.

To give a different example, here’s a typical scenario:

I have two ride pads on my kit, so whenever I build up a new kit from a SDX/EZX preset, I use the ‘Add Instrument’ option to add a second ride, which SD always calls Instrument 1.
I map my pad to Instrument 1 in the mapping window and save that midi map preset.
What I then expect to happen is that whenever I use that map preset and add Instrument 1 to a kit, my pad will trigger Instrument 1 the way I mapped it to.
What actually happens is sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Often times it will trigger the main ride instead of the second ride I added.
I didn’t map that pad to the main ride, I mapped it to Instrument 1, so why does SD override it?
I don’t want SD to assign any midi unless I manually told it to in the mapping window.

That’s the workaround I’ve been using too.

This is going to be a dumb question but did you save the preset you created? After you did that did you click ‘use preset’?

Of course, that’s what I mean, I’m using the same custom midi map preset yet the mappings don’t seem to stick.

Sorry about that, I took an offer elsewhere, tried to delete my post but it won’t let me.
    Good luck anyway.

Thanks for the sale, everything went smoothly.
I ended up only buying Area 33 so if anyone else wants SD3, go for it, the seller is trustworthy.
