… “follow host” is turned on. Of course when I save the song I have it off but for every song, every time I open it, I have to go into SD3 and disable follow host.
Is there any way to turn this default off? I realize this is not a huge issue to do this every time but it would be convenient.

There seems to be a bug that doesn’t save the Follow Host state with the superior 3 project. I will take a note of this, since when you save your project in your DAW, the state of Follow Host should be saved too…

To set a default state of SD3 (what it should look like when you every time you start it), set up SD3 as you want, go to File menu and select “Set as Default Project”. The next time SD3 is started, it will load that default project.

    Thanks for the report!

It was you who I sent here from facebook, right? 🙂

Thanks for posting the request here, it’s easier for us to keep track of requests when they are posted here…
I’ll take a note of your request, since it would be a cool feature…

Note that you can detach the Grooves tab and find stuff in Grooves that you can add to you MIDI on the song track, while having the Grid Editor opened.
For example, in the Grooves tab: select a file that has a hi-hat play style you like, select the file and drag the “hi-hat” from the Groove Parts on the right side, to the MIDI on the song track. Now you have the new hi-hat play style added to the MIDI you are working on in the Grid Editor…

    1) Do I lose any features of SD3 by using SD2 kits as base?

If you load a kit in SD2, and load the same kit in SD3 – they will have the same amount of instruments. The difference is that any added instruments are positioned on the left column, while in SD2 the added instruments (x-drums) can be positioned within the kit.

    2) To make a mix kit with SD2 and SD3 instruments, do I have to add the “foreign” one as an X-instrument or can I just replace it?

You can do the same routings wether you add a New Instrument in SD3 (called x-drum in SD2), or if you just replace a current instrument.

    3) Can I add additional channels manually in the mixer?

In Route Instrument Microphones: in the bottom of each drop down list, where you select the target channel, there’s a Add New option, which sends the microphone audio to a new mixer channel.

I hope this helps you on the way 🙂

    * Make sure that you have created an Instrument track.
    * Make sure that you are checking in the Instrument selection(see attached screenshot) -and not the Audio FX selection, which is below it.
In the instruments selection meny, EZkeys is placed in AU Instruments/Toontrack.

    1. … It would improve the usability, if you had a feature so that we could change the cursor into a “play” cursor and just click a section of a track to listen back to only that track (I think it’s called a scrubber, having a brain freeze at the moment!) …

A scrub tool is a useful tool! I’ll take a note of that request.

    2. … in tracker if I could highlight a section of multiple tracks at once and then copy and paste the trigger points(with all the settings), that would be really helpful. A lot of times, I’ll have a super sloppy drummer, spend a bunch of time getting the triggers right and then need to duplicate that in another spot in the song but I cant figure out an easy way to do it.

You can copy the settings (the values for the different controllers) for a region, and paste it onto another, but it’s not possible for the actual detected hits. This is because the tool is designed to track the actual audio, not so much for MIDI editing. The song track is where the editing is designed to occur, for example copy the MIDI from chorus 1 to chorus 2. However, your idea might be useful, so I’ll take a note of that too!

    3. … many times the drums dont start at the same time as the rest of the mix. Therefore, if in tracker you could change the start time to line up with your tracks in the DAW would be awesome….

We’ll take a note of this as a feature request!

    Thanks for the feedback!

When you save a project in your DAW, it will ask all the plugins about their state of its controllers. EZdrummer will send the data that the kick volume slider is set to -5 dB, for example. The next time you open the project in the DAW, it will set all the plugins and their controllers to their saved state, e.g. the kick channel in EZdrummer will be set to -5 dB etc.

    1. So if you add EZkeys to a track and play some MIDI on that track, EZkeys is silent? Can you add any other plugin (such as Logic ES1) and play that with MIDI? When you drag MIDI from EZkey’s song track, remember to disable Follow Host, so the MIDI doesn’t get played twice (both from EZkeys, and the Logic song track)
    2. You can just drag the MIDI from EZkeys to any other (MIDI) track in Logic, and the MIDI will play the instrument that is loaded on that track.

I just got confirmed from the coders that a bug caused EZdrummer 2 to crash if you go into Edit Play Style on a MIDI block that doesn’t have a kick in it. This bug will be fixed in the next update, hopefully soon!

    Hi Henrik
Thanks for the quick response – i also just viewed the release notes for latest updat, where it specifically says :
“Shift+Space now works in DAWs to start/stop song track or tracker playback (if keyboard shortcuts are enabled in Settings).”

i can however start and stop SD3 by itself – using shift+space. (can this be changed to just “space”?)
but unfortunatly it does not send the startstop to Reaper.
i am running the latest version and tried toggeling with the keyboard shortcuts but it didnt work.
    any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Shlomo

Are you using Windows or Mac?
Can you check your version of Reaper so we can try to reproduce why you can’t use space when SD3 is in focus…

In the mean time, if you want to remove one instrument from a MIDI block, you can right click the block on the song track and select Remove Notes > Kick. You can also right click any instrument in Edit Play Style and select “Remove MIDI” to achieve the same thing…

I had some time to try the above work-arounds, but each suggestion gives me the same results. EZDrummer 2 continues to crash when trying to remove midi using the Hard Rock EZX.

I sincerely hope this can be resolved quickly. As you know, the sound coming out of the kit is paramount when creating a groove. It’s very difficult to not be able to do any editing in the Hard Rock EZX.

Thanks for the feedback, we’ll investigate this further!
In the mean time, can you check if it does it crash both when you use the standalone EZdrummer 2, and when used in a DAW?
