You need to load an EZX that has 2 kicks in it to get that. EZdrummer 2 has fixed instrument positions while Superior Drummer 3 is it’s bigger brother with more options, such as adding instruments.

Well, that’s was a bad advice from me 🙂

I tried it and noticed that you are right. To fix it, you need to tweak the MIDI input in Settings a bit.

The attached screenshot shows how I did it.

    1. When your are on this page in Settings, play the hi-hat on the e-drums. This will select the correct MIDI note which corresponds to a instrument/ articulation. This is shown in the left column.

    2. On the right side you select what articulation to play when that e-drum/note is played. I selected “Hi-hat closed edge”, so that articulation will be played.

A side note: you can disable all other articulations but the one you chose to play, since those will occupy unnecessary computer memory.

Reply back here on how this works out for you!

Check that you have routed 3/4 to physical output 3/4 in Settings. Then check that only the hi-hat microphone channel is routed to channel Output 3/4 in the mixer. Finally solo the channel Output 3/4 in the mixer to make sure that you don’t hear any bleed from the hi-hat into other microhpones etc. If you do this, can’t you still hear the hi-hat in 3/4?

In that case is my bet that some settings in the X32 has to be changed – but it’s beyond my knowledge on how to do that. Maybe we have other Sd3 users with an X32 here?

In Settings / “Audio/MIDI Device”, go to Out Channels. There you can select to route more than the default stereo outputs from SD3 to your hardware outputs using by enabling “Multi-out”.

Then you use route different channels in the SD3 Mixer to different Output channels – which will send each output channel to the (above) selected hardware outputs.

    For example

In the Audio MIDI device settings, you route out output 3-4 to your hardware outputs 3-4. When you route something to output channel 3-4 in the SD3 mixer it will send that audio out on your hardware outputs 3-4.

I haven’t tried a X32, but the above explanation is the general way to do this. Please reply back on your progress, or if you have further questions!

So you have each foot on a kick pedal and want the hi-hat to play a closed sound even if you don’t press the hi-hat pedal with your foot?

You can select the hi-hat and unload all articulations except the closed one you want to play. This is done in the Articulations menu on the top right side of the drums tab. Now all hits, with any level of openess on the hi-hat pedal on the hi-hat will play the closed articulation you chose to keep. Will this solve your problem?
