In EZdrummer 2’s Search tab, enable Show Web Shop MIDIÂ and you can preview all MIDI files Toontrack has released, including the odd meter packs.

Thanked by: Andrew Petrie and Jim CrossonMakes sense—thanks. Mostly I’d think the relevant scenarios would be instruments that have rolls (like snare, conga, cymbals) and hi-hats. However I guess it’s pretty unlikely that you’d want to take the open hi-hat articulation from one instrument and pair it with the closed hi-hat articulation from another. Or… would mute groups work in that instance?

Reply To: Adding snare roll to SD3 so that it will be cut off by other snare hits version: 3.1.4
Operating system: macOS High Sierra (10.13)
Well, there are many different scenarios where the user may want it this way or another way. In theory one could import an open hi-hat and stack to a snare, and the hi-hat should mute snare rolls – for example 🙂

Well, the main reason is that it’s a pretty complex situation – more than one can image by just “adding an articulation” to a mute group. They interact with each other in many ways, in different scenarios.
However, this is on our feature request list since we know that some users wants to be able to control this, and we’ll look into the matter when we have the time. Thanks for the feedback!

This is a thing we have fixed. From our log for the next update:
“– Whether the time bar should use straight or triplet resolution is now determined by what is selected in the snap/resolution menu instead of by a context menu for the time bar.”
The context menu is opened by right clicking the time bar, above the notes in the Grid Editor.
The fix will be included in the next update, which is soon to be released!

You can’t edit the built in mute groups, but you can control the length of a roll.

Thanked by: Peter LuryeWill this be fixed soon? I have another project this happened in. This time I applied some tempo changes and it started happening.
Reply To: SD3 skips a few beats when following DAW. version: 3.1.4
Operating system: Windows 10
We are working on it, and the new version is currently out for beta testing. I can’t tell you when it will be released though, it depends on how the beta testing works out!

“Bleed” is just how much volume an instrument sounds into a microphone (which in turn is represented as a mixer channel in SD3).
So when you select an OH channel, for example, in SD3, you can decide how much each instrument should sound in to that channel. This is done in the bleed section on the right side of the mixer tab.

Thanked by: Asa PalmerThanks for the feedback! I’ll notify the writers of the manual. “Instrument widow” sounds like a sad instrument 🙂

Is it possible to change the colours of the application?...Is it possible to change the colours of the application?
I find the whole white or light grey on darker shades of grey background difficult to see. A different colour scheme might be easier to see (for me at least).
I’m using a 4K 3440×1440 and two 1280×1440 screens at slightly different scaling %ages, but as there is often a lot of stuff on screen at the same time some of the fonts remain quite small.
This entire black/dark grey look is very popular at the moment in many music applications, but for a lot of users it is difficult to adjust to. At least Steinberg provide the means to change many aspects of the colours used in Cubase and Nuendo, to improve legibility.

It’s not currently possible to adjust the contrast, but I’ll add it to our feature request list from users. We have discussed this, and have built the software so it will be possible for us to add such a feature. I can’t say when, or if, this will be done, but we’ll look into it!
In the meantime – have you set your screens to optimal brightness, contrast, and other settings available?

Is there a way to save several mixer channel’s configurations? If so, then I can simply save the channels, create a new kit, and easily reload then so all the effects and such are in place already.
You can each mixer channel as a user Channel Effects Preset (in the Channel Effects menu in the mixer). It does also work to multi-select channels, and then select Save As… which enabled you to quickly save each channel setup as its own preset. Channel Effect Presets are best for loading individual channel setups.
If you want to load multiple mixer channels (every Microphone Channel in the mixer, for example), then you can save a user preset in the Drums & Mixer menu (in the top right corner of the software). Then you can go to that preset, press the small arrow, and select Load Parts…Â where you can select what to load (only the mixer for example, or only the mixer channels that are currently selected).

Thanked by: Rev20101. Is there a quick way to select the Grid Editor from the main menu? – The only way I can reach it is to go to View/Detach/Grid Editor – there must be an easier way.
Currently you have to have a block on the song track, and double click it, to enter Grid Editor. If you don’t have any blocks on the track: right click on the track, select “Add Empty MIDI block” and double click it to open Grid Editor.
We might change this for the future, so it’s easier to access without having to have blocks on the track.
2. After ‘detaching’ tabs (View/Detach) is it possible to ALWAYS keep them detached? – At the moment this has to be done every time SD3 is launched.
Not currently, but I’ll add this as a feature request.
3. When adding/changing hits in the Grid Editor I select a section from the Song Track by double, double-clicking it and then adjust the Quantize, Swing and Randomize sliders at the top of the window prior to making changes. Unfortunately, these three settings are lost when a different section is selected. Is it possible to make these three settings ‘global’ as it is very frustrating to have to set then again every time a different section of the song is selected. It would also be helpful if these settings could be stored with the preset or DAW project so that they do not have to be reset every time SD3 is opened.
It depends on what you want to do. If you want to select some notes, adjust their settings, and then select other notes and apply the same settings for those, then use the Recall from Last Selection button.
If you mean that you want to select notes, change their settings, and the next time you select them, the settings should show the same values as to what they were changed to, it’s something we want to add, but haven’t had the time for it yet…

I thinks there’s a setting in Reaper where you can disable something like “Release audio for inactive plugins”… Maybe someone here with more Reaper experience knows the exact name of this feature? 🙂
