We need to hear the result to be able to tell you if it’s intended to sound like that, or if there’s anything wrong…

• In EZdrummer 2 – use a short MIDI block on the song track that plays a groove.
• Add a snare that you think sounds strange, and go to (top right side of the song track, icon with 3 lines) menu > track > export song as wave file
• This will create an audio file that you can post here.

Can you export the audio of what it sounds like, and mention what snare you are using on what library for the audio file(s)? Attach them here in a post so we can have a listen!

• is it the same if you start a new project?
  • e.g. you don’t have any latency plugins loaded
• does it get better if you lower the buffer size to get lower latency?
• does it get better if you select the superior drummer 3 track and record enable it?
  • Logic sets lower latency on record enabled tracks

BEST ANSWER

You need to do 2 things:

Start by selecting the hi-hat in the drums tab

1. Add a MIDI note to the articulation
   1. in the MIDI Mapping box to the right: click the menu on the Open Edge 5 (it’s the icon with 3 bars on the right side of it)
      1. Select Add Suggested Note – this will add a MIDI note to that articulation
2. Then enable the articulation
   1. In the Articulations menu (top right corner of the drums tab), press the Power button on the Open Edge 5 articulation

This should make your hi-hat play the open edge 5 when most opened

The original EZdrummer was released some 13 years ago. It’s virtually impossible to create a software that, without maintenance, can be used with all coming versions of Mac and Windows operating systems. To keep all old software updated would take so much time that new software couldn’t be released. This is the way things (unfortunately) are for all software companies. Toontrack will never deliberate develop software that will “stop working” at a certain time.

Have you tried the Webshop MIDI function in EZdrummer 2, where you can preview all MIDI files Toontrack has released?

You can’t detail control EZdrummer 2 in such a way as setting individual levels of different articulations. You can only change the levels of different instruments. You’ll need Superior Drummer 3 to control individual articulations.
