    1. How do you map them on to a key on the keyboard with the kit you have loaded?

    2. How do you get the midi parts you’ve written to play in time to play in time because I’ve read part of the sound comes before the main impact which falls on the beat

The MIDI is complicated to edit by yourself. If you add a future hit instrument, open Edit Play Style for a song block, select the future hit instrument add increase the amount, Superior will add these beats for you. You can go into the Grid Editor and see the MIDI (in the bottom), and try to edit it yourself 🙂

    – In the user preset save as dialogue there is no warning to replace an existing preset of the same name – why is this save dialogue different – what am i missing?

Do you mean Drums and Mixer user presets? We had a bug which made the check for existing presets fail if they weren’t identical with upper-/smaller-case letters. This might have been what you experienced? The bug will be fixed for next version. If the names were identical in that way – a popup should appear that asks if you want to overwrite the preset.

    – The manual talks about combining a mixer preset with a drum preset but how can I use a user mixer preset with a user drum preset – it seems as though they are the same preset type and overwrite each other – what am I missing there?

The Drums and Mixer presets contains the mixer and the drums. They can be described as changing how the drums sound.
You can – however – press the small arrow on the right side of the presets to access Load Parts. In there you can select what to load from the preset – for example only the drum kit.
The arrow is only available for presets made for SD3, so SDX:s won’t have that menu. We are looking into fixing that in coming updates.

In the bottom of the preset menu you’ll find two sub menus:
    * “Drum Kits” – this menu only changes the drum selections in the kits, meaning that if you have stacks on the snare, and have changed some properties on some drums (pitch for example) – they will remain.
    * “Mixers” – this is a legacy menu, since some of our older products contained special presets for the mixer.

    – The request is about the MIDI mapping keys display. I’ve worked out how to show midi notes rather than numbers in the list, that’s something but it’s still very unintuitive when trying to scan the list and match up different hits on e.g. an 88 note keyboard. It would be great if there was a much clearer keyboard view showing octaves – and it would be double great if this was a detachable tab;)

We will look into making this area easier to use!

PS When you gonna make some cinematic/epic/hybrid perc SDXs!?

It is cool to play cinematic stuff! We can’t unfortunately comment on future releases 🙂

I hope it got a bit clearer for you, reply if you have further questions!

We can’t comment on future updates/releases. We know this is a wanted feature by many users, and we’ll see what shows up in the future! Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, we are working on this software daily so we’ll see what ends up in future updates! Thanks for the feedback.

If you have space on your disk (or buy a bigger disk in the future) I suggest you try to download all installation parts – they do add a new dimension to the drums! I ended up with less need for reverb, since the room mics can be used for that (and I only mix in stereo). Further – it’s easier to make the drums sound big with all the room mics available.

The song parts available are fixed. I will add it as a user request to be able to add your own song parts. Thanks for the feedback!

In the drums tab – select the cymbal and click the Articulations list (top right). In there – each articulation that can be enabled has a power button you press to enable it. Articulations seen there that doesn’t have a power button are either articulations that can’t be enabled (such as CC trigger articulations), or articulations that the currently loaded instrument doesn’t have.

Yes, that is true – currently the stacking is articulation based. So the options are either to that for the articulations that are used, or add a new snare, and play two (or more) MIDI notes in the same time in the MIDI song block.

No, a MIDI note can only be assigned to one instrument’s articulation. Why doesn’t stacking work in your scenario?

Are you using multiple outputs, or stereo?

if you route different snare mic channel’s outputs to a bus, turning the level of that bus all the way down will make all the snare channels silent. Is that what you want to happen?

Can sending the snares to a bus, and then controlling the bus volume, achieve that in your case?
