Drum machine is connected with an Alesis Control Hub to a dedicated USB input on the Mac Pro.
As far as “MIDI Device settings in Settings->Audio/MIDI Setup->MIDI Device” I did not have the Alesis Control hub selected as well as the drum machine. I selected it and all is well now. Thanks!

My only issue now is that in EZD2 “stand alone” outside of pro tools, the Alesis does not seem to be triggering the drums. I checked in eDrums and the Alesis is selected there. Perhaps there is something in OS XX that I need to do?

    Thank you again, John
Yes the Alesis Control Hub is checked in Midi Input Devices
In Pro Tools, Midi Preferences “none” was selected in “Default thru Instrument”. I changed this to EZDrummer 1-1 and it everything started working properly after I clicked ok. Looks like I have to set that for each song, but no problem!

Sure, and thanks for your time!

What doesn’t work – No sound when attempting to trigger EZ2 from the Alesis- (Also cannot see drums “highlight” on screen so, I know that the triggering is not working)
OS 10 El Capitan – Pro Tools 12
Midi interface (from Alesis to Mac) – Alesis Control Hub
I have checked the cables (switched out with known, working cable, same problem)

Correction – I upgraded pro tools to PT 12. Now I can import wav., but I need to be able to drag and drop so I can easily edit. The wrong drums are still playing when I drag and drop from EZ to PT. (Tom tom playing the hi hat part, etc.) Can you please help me? Thank you.Cry

Well, what I think I am understanding is that I can leave the SONG in EZ? I tried that and when I hit play in pro tools the drums don’t start. Could you please explain a bit more? Or maybe tell me how to do this? I am so sorry for perhaps asking you to work outside of your scope, but I tried everyone (Avid, Message Boards, Conversation threads, knowledge bases and nothing I found helped. You are my only hope Obi Wan. I am a GREAT EZDrummer 2 guy when it comes to tweaking pre-sampled grooves and feels, I even write great fills. But I know little of midi or the technical relationship of EZ 2 and PT. And, I am forced to use Pro Tools. Stupidly, I upgraded to Mac OS XX El Capitan, and due to incompatibilities, I am not able to write the song in EZ 2 and save it as a wave file, and import it into Pro Tools. I can only drag and drop, Again, am I doing something wrong?

BTW, You have perfected the greatest drum tool ever. I was using my Alesis SR 16 for 30 years (still working) and getting away with it. You changed my musical life path. Thank you so much.

Pardon me but,…didn’t anyone think of this going in? Are the monitors in the TT lab so big that it was unnoticed? Good thing mine is huge, but if I had a standard size or was using a laptop I’d be #$^&ed! Really. Amazing, excellent product. So user friendly, but…………..COME ON!Confused
