Well, you obviously have more experience and a completely different experience with sd3 than me. For some of us that are new to VSTs like SD3, we’re having a hard time calibrating are e-kits to work well with the software. We’re running into real problems and issues that we don’t know how to fix. The bottom line is that the software is too advanced for some of us to invest the time needed to learn it. Also, good sounds are subjective. As of right now I’m getting more functionality, playability and good sound from the TD30 than SD3. But I’ll give it a second chance.

Hey, I completely agree with you and would also like a complete refund for the software plus expansions. I’ve had the software for a while now and since day 1 it was a frustrating and miserable experience. It’s was overwhelming the amount of problems I was dealing with. I pretty much abandoned the software and went back to my modules. I just plugged in my two TD-30s and Octopad into my mixer, turned it on, took a minute to dial in my sounds and I was off and running. If I can’t easily get a refund I will just have to take it as a lost and a learning experience of what NOT to do. If a software company can’t offer you a free trial of their software, don’t get it. Won’t make that mistake again. Even Logic gives you 3 months to try out the software. That’s a company I stand behind. Anyways as far raising the volume, at the bottom right, next to Macro Controls and Song Creator, there’s a slider that increases the kit volume. For individual instrument and articulation volume, the Level slider at the top will fix that. Good luck.

Oh, okay. To be honest, this was probably the first time opening the expansion since purchasing. And since all the other expansions I had obtained had presets and this one didn’t, I just assumed there was a problem. Thank you for your time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, I did that. I had changed the midi numbers on the second module from 60 upward. Also, I think I read or saw that since you can change the midi numbers in sd3, you could do that and not even have to change the midi numbers in the module, because you can change them in the software. Is this true?

I wonder if going with EZDrummer would have been an easier/wiser choice? Too late for that now right? I think toontrack should offer free trials. But anyway, thanks a lot guys for all the great advice and tips and putting my mind at ease. Definitely going to look into all of that. I’ll start fresh and go through my settings in the module and work my way up. I need patience. It’s going to take some time. If you guys have anymore tips that can help me further, please shoot‘em my way. Thanks again, I really appreciated. 🥁

I’m using all original Roland pads: 108, 128, PDX-100, 125X, Kd-140, various cymbal pads. All going through 2 TD-30 modules plus a TMC-6 MIDI converter. MIDI numbers have been changed on the second module. Set-up on the TD-30 seems to be dialed in just right for my playing style. Pads respond very well to those settings I’ve set in the module monitoring the sounds through the module itself. They just don’t respond that way through SD. It sounds like some of the articulations aren’t dialed in just right in SD. If I click on a drum on my laptop and then hit that same drum on the pad (v-drum) they don’t sound the same. The articulations are a little bit off. Not every drum responses this way on every pad I hit. On the computer, clicking a drum will give me a nice “round” tone. When I hit the pad, I won’t always get that round tone on some of the pads. I’ll get a harsh attack like a rim shot or more of the edge sounds in the center of the pad. I’m I suppose to make further adjustments in the drum tabs section as well as the e-drums section. I know making setting changes in the drums tab are not global, But I’ve seen some people making adjustments in drums tab section. I’m confused. Hope you guys help.

I’m using 2 Roland TD-30s. I’ve read that you have to change the midi map of one cause they will be sharing the same notes. How do you set them up so there not sharing the same midi notes?

I’m new to the software myself so I’m slowly finding out what it has and doesn’t , but I did purchase a few expansions like the Latin Cuban percussion and Latin  Cuban drumset. Both of them features beautiful sounding percussion instruments. If you’re looking for a great sounding cowbell and shaker or any other percussion instrument, look no further then these expansions. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the reply. Well I did that and it didn’t independently save my kit, the preset was edited too. Just to give you more information, the kit I copied was the pearl default and I named my user preset pearl default 2. Could that have been the problem? Does the naming have to be drastically different then original for it to save correctly?
