If you are used to music with only major/minor chords and power chords I understand you don’t get why other people need this feature…I play jazz and fusion and the underlying harmonies are usually very complex. At present I have to programm the bass line by hand as there is no way to make EZ bass play something decent on those harmanies. But, if I have to do it by hand why should I use Ez Bass? I can stuck with Trillian, which sound-wise I like it better.

Does the silence on this topic mean we should resign ourselves to the fact that we will not see this addition?

    Any news on this?

I also second the request for extended chords, as in EzKeys. This make the integration with EzKeys quite poor, at least for me: the “engine” of EzBass cannot follow the complex harmonies I can create with EzKeys. But also without complex stuff, do you want to create some tension with an altered chord? No way EzBass will play something decent on that. So, if I end up having to write the bass lines myself, why do I need EzBass? Unforntunately I did not realize it before buying it.

Sounds great for me. I love this kind of music and played a lot in this way as an active drummer. Now, as an beginner with EZDrummer, could You please tell me, what drumkit and which midigrooves You used?

Thanks. I used SD Metal Foundry, mixed in the DAW.

Studio One Free does not support 3rd party stuff. Only Producer and Professional versions can.

Well, yes in the EZD1 mixer Presets, you can. Or rather – it’s both EZX dependent and Mixer Preset dependent.
If you e.g. load the Basic EZdrummer 1 POP/ROCK Mixer Preset, you have separate faders for the 2 Rack Toms and the Floor Tom. These can then be routed to separate outputs. Since you can load kit pieces from any EZX, you can still use the EZdrummer 2 sounds, even though the Mixer Presets for them does not have the Toms on separate faders.

What I meant in the post above is that freely routing any kit piece to a separate output is a Superior 2 feature.
Did I explain it better now or do you want me to elaborate?

I got it. thanks. Lucky I have SD as well, so I am waiting for the update to be able to use the EZD2 libraries…

    Hi,

assigning each kit piece to a separate output would be a Superior 2 feature, not possible in EZdrummer.

no wait. In EZD1 each tom had a different mixer channel so you could route them to different outputs. what’s going on with EZD2?

Ah ok, thanks. I hope it will come soon.

If EZDrummer were as complete as SD why should we buy SD?

Yeah, but your buying the software to get the feel of the player.
If you play a keyboard to play the bass, it’s just not the same. It’s not every hard at all to use keys to program drums,
but you dont get the feel of a real drummer or the sound of the samples.

Right, that’s one point (not the only).
Anyway, it would be nice to hear from Toontrack if they have plans for EZbass…

it’s very possible to get realistic bass lines by quickly editing a single line, where it is extremely long and tedious to do so for keyboard and drum parts.

please try to make a bass line for a jazz song and then let’s talk again…

I realize that creating a bass instrument wouldn’t be an EZ chore, having witnessed Trillian in action. On the other hand, I think TT could produce something of quality that falls in between Trillian on one hand, and inserting notes on the piano roll in your DAW in and assigning the “slap bass” sound to them on the other. Surely there could be an acceptable middle ground, with low complexity and acceptable bass-sounding sounds.

In the meantime, I will continue to record my Jazz Bass to the best of my ability (I’m a guitar player, not a bass player), quantize the notes to the beat by hand, and bury it all in the mix. Currently, this is the best option I have, which is why I see a market for some kind of half-decent sounding yet playable bass instrument in EZ format. I think it would be a winner.

I have Trillian. It sounds great but the problem is that you should provide the midi part to play, and that’s the problem…I’d like to see something like EZKeys, where the midi to play is given by the software once the chord sequence is provided. That simple 😉
