While the series has consistently broken records, it hasn't escaped criticism for sticking to a familiar formula. Many devoted fans exist, but the question lingers: is there enough innovation happening, especially with the opportunity to launch the first title of the franchise in a new console generation, coinciding with the appearance of the PS4 and Xbox One? Instead, it aimed for a more personal touch, focusing on two brothers and their unique missions in the aftermath of a foreign federation invasion of the United States. The effects are thrilling, and the explosions appear realistic. Concerning gameplay, the campaign's redeeming quality is its brevity, lasting about six hours, allowing players to swiftly transition to the excellent multiplayer experience. This aspect surpasses the story mode in terms of enjoyment. Examining sound, it's crucial to distinguish between sound effects/voice acting and the soundtrack. While the soundtrack is dull and uninteresting, the sound effects and voice acting manage to be impressive.
