Just linked the BFD grooves I got with BFD 1.5 way back. Same thing with many of the grooves. Magic number with these is 42 bars.

With all these MIDI In map templates, I can’t be the only one that’s linked grooves and had this problem.

Am I really the only one looking for universal MIDI mapping?

    Does this clarify?

Yes, but this just seems very odd. Let me ask a different way and for a suggestion.

If changing the internal MIDI mapping doesn’t playback Toontrack MIDI correctly, what would its use be? Why would someone change the internal MIDI mapping if it plays everything incorrectly?

Secondly, do you have a suggestion for accomplishing what I’m looking to accomplish? I’d like all MIDI to match my custom mapping. I understand how MIDI In mapping works. I understand how to keep that mapping when I drag a recorded pattern out from the song track. But I do not know how to get Toontrack MIDI to match that mapping. A typical scenario for this need would be that I recorded a pattern in my DAW, but I want to replace the hats & ride with Toontrack patterns. What would be an efficient way to do this?

I’ve been wanting to take advantage of the SDX sale, specifically Custom & Vintage and Independent. Listening to only the presets – I found a Youtube channel playing through all presets of the SDXs I wanted to hear – it seems like the sound of those are covered fairly well with the stock SD3 kits/presets.

Any C&V and/or Independent owners care to share opinions on those libraries?

I’ve come to realize I also need the SD3 & imported grooves to drag out to my DAW with my custom mapping. Everything works fine in the SD3 song track, but it’s a hassle jumping back & forth to it & my DAW. And I do like adding parts from the grooves to my played patterns; SD3 hats over my kick & snare for example.

Unless I’m missing something, I need to change the internal MIDI but wanted to discuss your warning.

Note that you can also change the internal MIDI standard of SD3 to achieve what thought was the case, but this has the downside that when you play Toontrack MIDI it won’t be correct since the instruments will now play on other MIDI notes than what the MIDI files says.  It has other disadvantages too, such as ease of saving your custom user presets, etc.

I’m sure I’m misunderstanding, but it sounds like you’re saying remapping the internal MIDI will cause the SD3 & imported grooves not to play correctly. Shouldn’t it simply remap the grooves & play them correctly?

Assuming I’m misunderstanding you there, my 2nd question is how will this effect my MIDI in mapping? If I have it in place before I change the internal mapping, will it still work? Will I need to switch it back to the default when the internal mapping is changed?

Basically, help me understand how I can get all MIDI, in & out custom mapped.

@John, yeah, I was trying to avoid that, hoping that someone had found a way. I have a lot of their MIDI packs.

    Thanks!

John, best is relative, so I have to give you the dreaded answer, it depends.

One of the main reasons folks use aux tracks is to group and effect kit pieces/mics together. For example, you may want to send all the snare mics to an aux and effect them together. Or you may want to send all your toms to an aux and effect them. Or the entire kit.

Another popular reason is to control the volume of kit pieces/mics together. Similar to above, snare mics as a group, etc.

It may be worth a look through some of the provided presets, taking note how Toontrack’s engineers utilized the aux channels.

Oddly the installer wouldn’t allow me to install the player; I forget the message. But reinstalling & activating one of the libraries – I directed it to my desktop as to not disturb my existing file, then deleted it – magically located everything, updating their install & activated status.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

the SDX:s folders do not contain any MIDI. Your MIDI repository is system-wide and is under the ‘EZdrummer’ folder specified on your system.

If you have Custom installed your ‘EZdrummer folder to an external drive, e.g. ‘{External_Drive}/Toontrack/EZdrummer’, this is where you point SD3 to under the ‘Additional Libraries – Toontrack MIDI – EZdrummer Sound Libraries (EZXs)’

The Default location for the ‘EZdrummer’ folder on a Mac system is ‘{Mac HD}/Library/Application Support/EZdrummer’.

    BR,

    John

I did do a custom install but only redirected the samples, I believe. I will check the default location.

    Thanks!

In PM, click the Details of one of your EZkeys products.

On the Downloads tab, there is the Full Product Installer and there’s the Updates. Under Updates, you should see the EZKeys Player Download.

Download and Install this, then launch and point.

    BR,

    John

I’m looking at the Web Version on another CPU, but I see that. Sweet!

This worked great with one exception. I don’t have access to the grooves; the MIDI that comes with SD3.

The closest I see to that in the Library/Path settings is EZDrummer MIDI. I tried directing that to each of the SD3 folders on my external drive with no success. What am I not doing?
