I agree with these posts. I also feel ripped off. I feel I was forced to buy it after trying the demo and find it completely unintuitive and out-of-date.
I love SD3 and EZbass so find it hard to believe that the same company markets this rubbish.
TT are even trying to market new midi packs for EzKeys! What a joke.
I had not used it since I bought it a couple of months ago but did try to knock up a quick piano part with it this week without success. Completely impossible to work out how to use it. In the end I played the part in myself, so I suppose it could be said that EzKeys is improving my own piano playing!
This puts a very bad mark against ToonTrack’s reputation. 🙁

Just a typo fix for the sub-bass control in the “Folk” preset.
Wow, that’s made my day!

I recently bought EZkeys so that I could test it properly as the ‘Try before you buy’ version was so restrictive it was not even possible to save the test data I was working on – I had to start again every time I opened the app!
After a little bit of testing it is clear that EZkeys is hopelessly out of date and needs a re-write to bring it up to the levels of SD3 and EZbass.
Come on Toontrack – You don’t need to reinvent the wheel – you’ve already developed the principles of what’s needed in SD3 and EZbass: Grid Editing, resizable GUI and all the other things mentioned by your many customers above.
Currently EZkeys is a very poor product by today’s standards and a very bad advertisment for Toontrack. You are doing yourselves no favours by constantly ignoring and alienating your user base.

Half a bar would still be too restrictive and simplistic. We need to be able to cut bars at the very least on a single beat level. Anything else is just amateurish.

If you have any other Hammond emulation VST (Arturia B3 for example) you can set EZkeys to output midi to it by setting Midi Out to ‘on’. The benefit of that is that you will have all of the controls of your favourite emulation (like drawbars) available to you in addition to the Ezkeys midi files.
Hope this helps.

Hi Olof,
The issue seems to have been resolved in my ‘Forum Problem’ post, but I am now being very careful never to touch certain knobs on the interface.

Hi Scott,
I’m sure they are aware too, but are they going to do anything about?
I’ve spent today trying to get to grips with the demo version and I must say it is very hard work given that it is not possible to test exporting midi to a DAW and nor is it possible to save my test data. The entire UI needs a complete update. It is terribly out-of-date compared to SD3 and EZbass which are really good. At the very least, I think it needs to have an internal Grid Editor added to eliminate having to transfer edited midi data back and forth between the app and a DAW all the time – that’s just not good enough in the 21st century. It is a real shock going from SD3 and EZbass to this ancient interface – given that they are all products from the great Toontrack company.
It seems to me that the only way I can try EZkeys properly is to buy it so that all aspects can be tested. However, in the event that I can not get to grips with the interface, would I be able to get a refund within a short period of time?

Thanked by: Kenthany KellyIf you activate ‘Midi Out’ in EZkeys the midi parts can be sent to any other Hammond or other synth plugin you have within your DAW. Plus you will have the advantage of being able to use all of the controls within the non-EZkeys plugins to tailor the sounds.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the ‘Try Now’ link – I was looking in the wrong place.
With regard to accessing the EZkeys forum, do you seriously think that registered users of other ToonTrack product are going to be pirating your software?
Have we not already shown that we are trustworthy by buying your other products? I can not believe that you still suspect us of being potential thieves!
It would be respectful to the people who buy your products if they were permitted to look at all parts of the Toontrack forum and would be good for your business not to alienate and aggravate existing users.
By reading the reactions of other users we could make properly informed judgements as to whether or not we should buy a product. Why would you be afraid of that?

This probably won’t happen but it would be great if the main bass graphics would change to match the 4/5 string setting.

Thank you Petter, that has solved the problem, although the relationship between the Damping Curve nodes and the damping knob is very confusing as, as far as I can see, the latter does not display a value unless it is actually moved so it is impossible to know retrospectively what value has been applied using the knob.
Note: The relationship between the Velocity Curve nodes and the Velocity, Dynamics and Randomize sliders is also very confusing as, as far as I can see, these sliders do not display applied values when retrospectively selecting notes.
I assume that any values applied are stored when a project is saved, so it should be possible to display them after the event.
If these knobs and sliders are never touched then there is no problem, but if they are used then it is vital that values applied to notes are retrospectively visible to avoid the sort of confusion I was experiencing with ‘damping’. (Perhaps they are, but I can not find them).
