Custom Shop EZX and Jazz EZX do have brush presets, too.

The Custom Shop EZX preset “Brushes Uptempo” sounds great.

So my anger about the Toontrack license transfer fee introduced in June 2021 is not entirely unfounded...

I read that the Americana EZX Expansion kit has brushes, but I can’t find them.

Could someone help me locate them? (Yes I’m a total noobie)

Should be in the Orange Preset Menu under the Americana EZX.

I don’t know if you can play brushes via the whole kit. Right click on Snare and choose the correct snare drum that was recorded with brushes, for example. Or right click on any drum and look at “Kits” to see if there’s a kit just for brushes. Or in the upper right orange box where you select your EXZ, see if there’s a preset for brushes, which may not be named accordingly.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

In the  EZX Americana I found the  Ludwig Chrome Over Brass – Brushes kit, but I am  looking  for  brushes that  are swirled on the snare for a smoky Jazzy/Bluesy sound. It seems like these brushes are used just to hit the snare.

Any thoughts on how to get the swirly sound?

BTW is there not a way to paste a photo from my computer in these boxes?

There’s a new post on the forum about the Big Band EZX and “swirl”. Might want to see if there’s a youtube vid reviewing it if the product page doesn’t make it clear. Maybe that’s what you want.

At the bottom of the page before you reply you can submit a picture…

The dedicated Custom Shop EZX has brushed swirl grooves straight and swing 4/4.

If you active Show Web Shop MIDI and set a Play Style filter “Swirls” you are shown five libraries: Decades, EZX Big Band, EZX Custom Shop, EZX Jazz and EZX Vintage Rock.

There are also swirls within the Legacy of Rock library. Just chose the Play Style filter “Brushes” to check them out!

I wondered if any midi packs contain brush grooves ? I have country kit and that has some brushes. What I don’t understand is if I have a kit with brushes can I select that kit and then get it to play any of my grooves from other midi packs and ezx ?

Yes. Besides the Swirl Articulation, using brushes is a matter of switching out an instrument. The midi note for a snare hit is 38. If you load a snare with a brush articulation, the note is still 38. So any midi should work with brushes when it comes to EZXs.
