That won’t do much good live, would it?

How would the software determine which trigger was sending a signal? Wouldn’t you have to have a multi-input soundcard?

Indeed. In my example, the 828mk3 have at least 10 inputs.
Thus, it would look a little bit like a ddrum4 module; triggers in, drum sounds out.

This sounds like a great idea. I’m guessing that loads of guys have multiple input soundcards as part of their setup and it’s so easy to make your own trigger pads it would mean guys could basically diy kits and not have to fork out for Roland or whoevers module. Maybe even make it a vst plugin so you could use it in your daw.

Yes, it is a great idea many people have tried… one word: latency. That does not mean it’s not possible, at least with a limited number of triggers to process, but it’s not straightforward, hence the lack of offering besides specialist equipment that end up costing more than a Roland kit 😉

    … never say never however.

I’ve never messed with drum triggers, so I’m not sure if they’re at all similar to footswitches, but if they are, would this work?

…not sure if it’s *just* switches that it’s compatible with… i.e. on/off, and so no possibility of velocity data
