From what I’ve been able to figure out there seems to be two ways to add third party midi 1) Add Linked Folder, and the midi will show up in User Midi and 2) Put them in the Midi folder in the EZ Drummer folder which holds the EZ Drummer libraries (and SD3 will be able to use it from there as well as EZ Drummer 3)
Aside from how the third party midi shows up in the respective programs (in the Browser main level, or in User Midi section) is one method better than the other? I would like to be able to have the midi searchable—to whatever degree that’s currently possible—and would like to keep things as organized as I can.
Or perhaps there’s another method I’m not aware of?
Thanks!
Post this in the actual Superior Drummer forum and you might get a response.
To add third-party MIDI in EZ Drummer and SD3, you can either link the folder in User MIDI or place it in the MIDI folder within the EZ Drummer directory. Both methods work, but placing it in the EZ Drummer folder keeps everything more organized. Neither method affects searchability significantly.

Thanked by: Scott EshlemanI’ve tried both methods, and in practice, they work the same, but I prefer using the Linked Folder option. That way, I can keep my third-party MIDI files organized in their location without mixing them into the Toontrack installation folders. It also makes things easier when updating or reinstalling SD3/EZD3, since I don’t have to worry about my custom MIDI getting overwritten.
