The 24 hr challenge continues – "Marigold"!

Last weekend, me and my friend Lars got together once more to challenge ourselves to write, produce, record, mix and master a new song, all within 24 hours. Everything was done completely from scratch, both music and lyrics, so there will be flaws.

Toontracks EZ Drummer 2 (with pop! and dream pop add-ons) was used. Also a lot of Logic and Universal Audio stuff, with respect to reverbs (EMT 140 and 250), compressors (1176), amp emulations (Marshall Plexi, Ampeg svt-vr) etc. For synth sounds we used “alchemy” in Logic.

This project is super fun, but quite challenging. All in all, we are quite happy with the outcome but it would be interesting to hear what others think. Since we must have listened to it more than 1,000 times during production, we have sort of lost all objectivity… 🙂
