Song Creator Not Working For Original MIDI

I’ve just briefly tested out Song Creator with some original MIDI files that were created using SD3 (IOW mapped to the SD3 midi map). I am dragging and dropping totally different beats, and the verses come out the same (Basically it sounds a bit like “Ballroom Blitz” by the band Sweet.

Is Song Creator intended to even work with user MIDI files, or does it only work with included groove files?

I really need to know to understand the program. I would have understood that Song Creator would work with any MIDI patterns, since it is “AI”. In the manual there appears to be no step-by-step for getting user MIDI to work, and I would have assumed this process would be the same as with using any of the included grooves.

Of course, when I use included MIDI grooves, Song Creator does create sensible patterns, but this feels less creative, as the groove parts don’t match what I’m playing very well.

Hi,

even if the User MIDI does not have tags, it should be analysed and you should get reasonable results.
If you drag your MIDI to the Tap2Find drop zone, does it work any different for you?

Maybe a little better, but I don’t think I’m doing it right. I’m dropping in a reggae bar. Its responding with a punk rock song, with totally different snare timing. The resulting song sounds a little bit like Green Day, not reggae. Maybe the problem is with Reggae generally. We should eliminate Reggae!

I had a MIDI file for a song by Blue Oyster Cult. For that it seems Song Creator worked very well, at least matching the style overall, and not conflicting with the pulse.

Any more advice?

While searching with Tap2Find, if you enable Show Web Shop MIDI, does the results get better?
