Recently there was a thread here about slow load EZDrummer drum kits in case sampling rate was set to 48 or 96 kHZ. Scott clarified this:
“EZdrummer was designed to operate best at 44.1K. It can of course be used at any sample rate but the engine will have to recalculate the samples to compensate for the resulting shift in pitch.”
Currently I am using EZDrummer with 96 kHZ and I am really tempted to switch to 44.1. Just because of the speed of drum kit load.
This leads me to a somewhat religious question: will 44.1 kHZ be good enough. I’ve read numerous arguments about why higher rates should be selected. But I am not a professional musician although I am trying not to compromise on sound quality. And since EZDrummer has been designed to operate at 44.1, does this mean that this sampling rate should be sufficient for the majority of EZD users?
Or I can put it differently: in case you are using EZD with higher rates and accept it’s slowness in loading drum kits, are you sure it’s worth it? Or should I just select 44.1 for all my projects and I will never regret as long as I don’t aim producing Hollywood film tracks?
Thanks in advance
