I have EZD2 with the Vintage Rock EZX. For snare, I like the Slingerland- Sticks. Desiring more kit pieces (Vintage Rock has only 2 toms), I went into EZ Drummer 2 Modern, then selected “Empty kit.” When I input the Slingerland snare here, it sounds completely different than it did in the Vintage Rock kit.
What is the advantage of using kit pieces from “any EZX library” if the sound is not maintained? Am I missing something?
different eq and mixing that’s all
what’s strange for me is the comp section
at 0 it sounds bad, thin and more it sounds raw
where is original sound that they had recorded?

Good point. I think both of our observations point to Toontrack sacrificing user control in the interest of making it EZ.
Well, shit- of COURSE I want control over the sounds in my song! Makes me wish I had gone with Superior Drummer.
i am agree with the first message
the best sounds are not in mixing the snares but mixing the bass drum pedals because it works very well ! it sounds better that way
and second, buying superior drummer 3 was the thing to do !
but now i have some ezx’s so, complicated 🙂 maybe next Christmas lol

My problem is: the snare preset that I like originates from a kit with only 2 toms. I want a kit with 5 toms, but then I lose the snare preset which only works with its original kit!
I’m gonna try opening another instance of EZD in my daw.
which preset?
to have more toms i have a solution
you must record with 2 toms but after that you look for the note (midi file in your daw) and you change the pitch
that’s what i did when i wanted 5-6 toms with the pop/rock ezx

That’s a good solution, thanks! I tweaked tom pitches within EZD, and wondered about assigning an envelope to automate this in my daw, but never considered the “EZer” method (Lol) of doing it in my midi editor. Top shelf!
I believe the preset I’m using is original mix for the Vintage rock EZX.
i had never changed the pitch outside garage band
now, i can imagine it EZD 2 too 🙂
but the idea is : one track with the classic toms (3 for example)
and a second track with a new pitch for the toms (for the 4th and 5th for ex)
but i use a compact pad controller too : it’s easier to do like that

I do route each EZD mixer channel to its own dedicated daw track. Are you saying it is possible to route 1 EZD channel (ie: toms) to 2 separate daw tracks?
Hi,
I think user ‘x_name’ means that you can have a 2nd instance of EZdrummer 2 with only Toms loaded and those Toms pitched and panned differently than the ones in the 1st instance.
To be able to load e.g. a Snare with mixer settings from one EZD2 Preset from an EZX with other drums from another Preset in that EZX, you would have to use SD3 and User Presets or use 2 instances of EZD2.
When you switch drums in EZD2, the current mixer preset is applied to the drum you switch to.

no i mean nothing that i have already said 🙂 = creating 2 tracks
one for the toms
a second for the others but with a different pitch is what i use

John, thanks for clarifying. I took your advice and added a 2nd instance of EZD by duplicating the daw track containing it. Since multichannel outs were already created/assigned from EZD to daw, these were preserved in the duplicated track, making life easier. And then, in the 2nd instance of EZD, all kit pieces were disabled except the toms.
Thanks to you both.
