Hello
I’m trying to find a way to mute/reduce the noise coming from the bass trigger when hitting it with my pedals.
I live in an apartment (hence the E-Kit), and I think that the noise coming from my kicks are awfully loud :/.
It sounds like I’m hitting nails in the wall .
Is there some way to reduce the noise?
I’ve read around the net about a way to reduce the pedal vibration, but since I’m living on the lowest level, and have no neighbors beneath, I would assume that’s not a problem.
I am living in a concrete building though, and I’ve read bad things about concrete and vibrations, would the noise still get to the neighbors on top and sides?
The only thing I think is loud as hell, is the noise when the pedal is hitting the trigger.
It’s not bad if I don’t kick very hard, but how often don’t you?
Thanks.
My kit is a Roland TD-9KX
Thanks again.
I see this kit doesn’t have a mesh bass drum pad. It may be an idea to invest in one as they are a lot quiter.

Hello mark.king
Thanks for your answer.
So something like a Roland KD-85BK, KD-120BK or KD-140.
I assume they all 3 have mesh pads yeah?
Would a KD-85BK do just fine? They’re all a bit expensive, 120 and 140 are way expensive though o.O .
Thanks.
I would try before you buy.
I’m sure the mesh head will be quieter, but perhaps not as quiet as you hope.
Hello Whitten
I would guess the mesh heads on these bass triggers are the same as my toms? The KD-8 is REALLY loud because of the hard ruber surface it has.
I could easily imagine the mesh head on a KD-85 would be a lot quieter, not completely silent no, that I wouldn’t hope for.
But yeah I would check it out before buying, for that amount of money I ain’t just gonna buy it just to get let down.
Thanks.
You may also have to consider a riser. I saw a very interesting DYI one here on this Forum, built with tennis balls.
