Does Logic Drummer output MIDI to the outside world?

I’m not sure, I’m a bit of a midi newb. How would I go about checking that?

You’d have to check the documentation for Logic Drummer yourself. Doesn’t have anything to do with being a newbie with MIDI but being up on what the program can do.

I suppose that the easiest way to get Logic Pro X Drummer data into SuperiorDrummer is to:
    1) create a Software Instrument track with SD3 instantiated below your Logic Drummer track.
    2) then, drag the Drummer region(s) onto the SD3 track. The Logic Drummer data should convert to MIDI on the SD3 track.
Mute the Logic Drummer track so that you’re NOT hearing both tracks.
    3) THEN, you can [Record] that MIDI into the SD3 song track as noted previously.
After which, you’ll want to mute or delete the MIDI on Logic’s SD3 track so that only the MIDI internal to the SD3 song track is heard.

found this video where 2 ways of converting Logic Drummer data to MIDI are illustrated

No need to do all that.  Simply change the instrument on Logic’s Drummer track to SD3 and change SD3’s drum mapping to Apple -> Logic Drum Designer.

You can continue to use Drummer regions from there and make any adjustments you see fit, or you can bring it into SD3 via the Record button in SD3 and play the track.

Oh, cool. It’s been awhile since i’ve used Logic at all.
I’m definitely going to try this method to attempt to imprint it for when I need it.
    Thanks, Jord.

    No probs. 😀

One of my fave features of Drummer is the ability to use other instruments, including SD3, in its arrangement track without missing a beat (pun intended). Takes songwriting to a new level.

Indeed this def works. The only thing to note is the different kits in logic drummer can map differently. You can remap to what you need to once you’ve got the performance how you like it, convert it to midi and move the notes.

SD3’s drum kits map properly if you are using the Logic Drum Designer map. There should be no need to remap any MIDI. The only thing you may find is the lack of future hit mappings, to which you can extend the Logic Drum Designer Map and save it as a preset.  You can find the MIDI information in Logic’s help section.

update: that was the missing piece, thanks Jordan. I changed the logic drummer track to use sd3, hit record and it worked. I did have those mapping problems where I had to move a bunch of hits around. I’ll try again using the midi mapping change.

Do you have a pointer to where that mapping change would need to be?

    thanks!

Hard to tell the kind of issue you are having. Please provide more details.

Alternatively, if you ZIP up your Logic project (without audio) and post it, we can have a look.

I was just referencing what you said about

“No need to do all that.  Simply change the instrument on Logic’s Drummer track to SD3 and change SD3’s drum mapping to Apple -> Logic Drum Designer.”

I was just wondering what page/setting “change SD3’s drum mapping to Apple -> Logic Drum Designer.” happens in SD3?

You do that on the MIDI In/e-drums tab in ‘settings’.
