There are no ‘raw’ sounds in EZdrummer libraries. All channels (OH and Room channels included) have been processed by the producer to provide a more user ready product out of the box.

    thanks about the info! 🙂

what about the amount of different velocity samples,
are these comparable or do EZX expansions have less samples than SDX expansions!?

lets take a CRASH cymbas as an example. does a crash in an EZX consist of less samples than a cymbal in a SDX!?

    cheers

Yes, less samples in EZXs than in SDXs.

i’m still confused, does this count for the actual amount of samples (OH, Room, different mics etc.)
or does it refer to the amount of different VELOCITY LAYER samples!?

    cheers
    S.

Both. There are less velocity layers in the EZdrummer line of products than in the SDX line. And, less amounts of samples overall due to less articulations, less mic bleeds.

ok, that’s really good to know! 🙂

is it a constant number of samples that every kit piece in a EZX/SDX
is using or does the number of samples differ from kit piece to kit piece!?
is there any kind of “chart” or something like that!?

    why am i asking this!?

i think superior 2 sounds really natural and realistic and i think that the
amound of calocity layer samples is a big factor that makes S2 sound so good.

that’s why i am a bit afraid that an EZX may not sound that good and kind of mechanical compared to S2!?

would you say that an EZX, for example the ney ANDY SNEAP EZX
sounds more “mechanical” comapred to, let’s say TMF, or is the amound of sampes still
enough to replicate a realistic sound!?

No constant number of layers and no ‘chart’.

I’m sure I’m not the right person to answer that question. I think all metal drums sound (or are supposed to sound) mechanical.

I can only suggest for you to listen to the demos of the Metal Machine EZX and judge for yourself if it sounds mechanical or realistic or not.

I know my being a betatester connotes a certain bias, but for my purposes, I like the EZXes for when I’m lazy (most of the time) and don’t feel like creating my own mix.  I like the SDXes for when I feel the need to be as original as possible.  Neither decision is based on a quality-critique of the sound.
