Quick question regarding Ekits and SD 2

So I bought a Roland td-12 a couple days ago and Superior Drummer along with it. My question is, If I hook my Roland module up to my computer via midi to USB, or whatever have you, will I be able to hear SD’s sounds in real time? This might be a dumb question, but I have 0 experience with SD and its the only thing keeping me from opening my $300 box of software and getting started. Any help would be great. Thanks. 🙂

Yes you can hear it in real time,
You may have some latency depending on settings in your soundcard.
This can be set up to be totally natural and great playing experience with enough CPU/Ram.
Go for it, you will be impressed with the realism over the standard Roland sounds.
You need to install Solo (free) if you want to use it standalone and not a DAW
You can get by with 2 gig but i would hope you have 4 gig of Ram
Go for it !

I do have a sound card (its ok) but im just using the onboard audio for now.

I wouldn’t recommend the on board soundcard if you want low latency playing of e-drums and S2. A decent card with ASIO drivers is recommended.

I see :/ and do you have any suggestions for said sound cards?

Do you think a midi to usb adapter is the right choice, or should I go with something else like M-audio fast track?

The Fast Track should do just fine, MIDI to USB adapters are for MIDI only, you want the better performing Audio part.

You still need the midi out from your drum module to speak to your computer midi >usb as well.
