I use the alesis dm5 to trigger my drumset and 7 metal backed ddrum triggers. 1 on each bassdrum I use 2 1 on snare 1 on 10” tom 1 on 12” tom 1 on 13” tom and 1 on 16” floor tom. This worked fine for a long time with the dm5 and the trigger i/o. A little while back the snare drum trigger started acting weird. It would do trigger sounds when i didnt hit it. I mean i could be in another room and noone was in the drumroom and the trigger would trigger the snare sound. I figured that was just a faulty trigger because it is the only one that does that. OK I got one crappy snare trigger no big deal. The other day I decide im gonna put piezos on the bottom of some old cymbals so i can have practice ecymbals. I get out 3 piezos because I have 3 old really bad cymbals. I put one piezo in a rag and taped it on the underside of the cymbal. It worked fine so i did this to all 3 cymbals and they all trigger fine. OK then i get on the drums and play them my ride triggers great untill i hit my bass drum with it. It will trigger maby 1 out of 7 hits when i play the bass drum with it. When I go into a blastbeat even slow it wont trigger. i figured it was because the dm5 just can’t do it or something. I hooked up the alesis trigger i/o and get the same exact problem. I dont know if its a wiring problem or its just the triggers fault all together. I thought maby it was because i used mono jacks so i then used stereo jacks. even changing out the piezo changed nothing. I have no idea why it wont work
Hi ricepattydaddy,

Your best bet is to check the solder points on both the piezo and the socket.
A “broken” solder point (on the piezo ceramic part especially) may be the cause of such a problem.
Otherwise, the piezo may have to be “restuck”.

Does it work using a stick instead of a kick beater ?
Best regards.
