Hi,
I’m using the “Rock foundry / Toontrack /Hurricane” preset.
I also use the “stereo reverse mixer” option so that I listen to the drum from the audience perspective.
My hi hat track balance is automatically reversed, which is expected.
But its bleeding sound through the overhead stays panned as if it still was in the drummer perspective. So it feels like two sets of Hi hats are playing on opposites the sides of the drum.
It’s hard to tell if the whole OH keeps its original panning despite the “stereo reverse mixer” (the other elements feel pretty far away, as expected) but it seems to be the case.
How come then the OH doesn’t follow the SRM?
What am I missing?
I can’t be sure and it’s hard to tell because I’m in a middle of a project but I think it doesn’t happen with all the presets. I kind of remember that using the SRM can be a hit or miss when it comes to the Hi hat/OH, some presets keeping the hat bleed/OH in its original position.
Can someone tell me the logic behind this, if any?
Sure, if all the OH is inverted, I could swap the balance positions but it defeats the SRM purpose (and I would still be clueless about the reason it is the way it is).
And not sure if I should do the same with all the ambiances then.
PS: there is no effect on the OH track so it can’t be the result of any transformation.
PPS: I’ haven’t bounced the drum. I’m just listening it in real time (I read someone else’s topic asking why his OH were inverted after a bounce which seems to be a problem that hasn’t been solved yet, or at least it wasn’t at that point. This is not the case here anyway)
