Not a show stopper. But “Audio Engine Inactive Check Your Audio Device” pops up now and then for a long time now. I’m just getting to the point of working with EZ Drummer so much, I want to fix this. It mostly happens (maybe 100% of the time), while I’m moving my cursor across sorting columns or different areas of the EZD2 interface while auditioning a midi file. Especially, but not every time, when I move my cursor across a field that makes my cursor change shape. Like when you go to resize a sorting column, the cursor turns from the generic pointer to a resizing arrows. Not when I’m clicking, just when my mouse moves. This will happen once every ten minutes for example. If I just have EZD2 playing back and I’m not moving my mouse, I never have a playback issue. Long time issue for me after many uninstall/reinstall of OS and Apps over the past year, maybe longer. Same issue whether using Standone and being the only thing on my computer running, or with intense Pro Tools session running.
I’m on all SSD HDs. EZD2 has its own SSD for it’s sounds. EZD2 app is on my SSD C Drive. 32GBs ram with i7-5930k. RME Fireface 802. I have flawless and resource intensive feature film projects loading up and playing back in Pro Tools without a hiccup. I have a hard time thinking I’m under powered. Is this just something I need to live with and accept? Or am I possibly missing something that I can optimize?
Thanks for your time!

Does EZdrummer become silent when this message is shown?
It does not. Just mouse freezing while audio still plays.
**Also usually pushing two displays via GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.
Mouse doesn’t freeze up in DAW unless EZD2 GUI is visible and I’m mousing over it. When I have GUI closed, but EZD2 is playing, never an issue.

For how long does the mouse freeze?
Every ten min – could it have something to do with a hard drive falling asleep?

I did check just now. I’m on “High Performance”. I went to Advanced and HD Turn Off was at 160 minutes. Regardless of it not matching my issue, I did change that to zero. I will reply later if anything has changed. It’s a good thought, I appreciate your attention!
*Mouse freezes 2-4 seconds.

Hi
Solved
This is more or less solved except for a problem of latency-sound-image synchronization with the drums I had before the last update
but, what must be done to avoid garageband-midi pad controller lockups
is to revert – to come back to last 2.1.8 version by a line code given by Toontrack
And don’t take the latest version with Mac OS Big Sur (for me, it blocked, garage band crashed and froze (wheel spinning endlessly))

I got similar issue with ezdrummer 2 after latest update my n-track 8 64bit studio completely freezess and do not work at all
. The ezdrummer pops up and has the error message in lower right corner. I will now try to roll back to version 2.1.8 where I did not have this problem. Or is there and betters solution?

EZdrummer version: 2.2.0
Operating system: Windows 10
This error message means that the host has stopped asking the plug-in to render audio. Try to avoid clicking in the EZdrummer window in this state, because that can cause short freezes. Instead, try to remedy this in the host, for example by starting and stopping host playback.
When does this happen? All the time?

This happen even just opening n-track with a midi track included using ezdrummer 2 and nothings work at all everything is stalled (freeze).
In the newer version of n-track 9 the issue is gone, but I prefer to work in version 8 (its much better).
What is new in ezdrummer 2.2.0 compared to version 2.1.8 that caused this issue?
when I played with my midi pad controller : it freezed it crashed
I tried the 2.2.0 version but the problem came at this moment
so I came back to the 2.1.8 version
Toontrack gave me some lines to write into the Terminal to delete all about the last version to let me come back the the previous version
I think it works now
I added the solution for someone here
sudo — bash -c ‘pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.aax.pkg; pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.vst.pkg; pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.au.pkg; pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.app.pkg’
then return (if password)
then return
then download the version you need without the full installer in toontrack product manager (in the right corner of the download section in the toontrack product manager)

“write into the Terminal” What terminal? (sudo commands sounds like some Linux/Unix stuff)
Mac > Terminal is the place to write the lines
