New to EZD -> to EZD2, and Install EZX, question of best way to install

Hi, I purchased EZD just before the EZD2 went public, and also purchased EZXMetal… I do like to install once the correct way and haven’t found how I should do this. Searched the forums and the web.
I have installed EZD and have it working in Studio One Professional. I finally have time to Upgrade to the EZD2 and also need to install EZXMetal.

1) Should I install the EZX Metal into EZD before upgrade install of EZD2 ?
2) Should I install the upgrade to EZD2, then do the 2 updates I see that are ready for EZD2, then install the EZXMetal.

I did find this posting to install EZD2 , but it doesn’t specify the installation upgrade to EZD2 …

Yes, I am a noob to ToonTracks and thinking it wouldn’t matter which I did first. I’m sure there is better advice than me just winging it,,, I know experience helps.

Hi,

not that it matters much but I would upgrade and update to EZdrummer 2 first. You can follow those instructions you linked to.
Then, after you have successfully Installed and Authorized EZdrummer 2, I would install and update EZX’s.
After you have EZdrummer 2 running, you can easily see if all your content is up to date by clicking ‘check for updates’ in the EZdrummer 2 Menu.

Oh. one more thing,,, I don’t see anywhere that I should uninstall EZD before installing EZD2,,, but should I uninstall EZD first, would this cause conflict or will the install recognize earlier version and perform required removal ?

Hmm,,, I went to my DAW site ( Presonus Studio One 2 Professional ) and seeing posts that EZD2 is having an issue working as a plugin ?

At the time I purchased EZD2, I could have gotten SD for $30 more than EZD with the EZD2 upgrade. in May ’14… lol
I was influenced by the sales guy, great guy but I saw EZD2 worked within studio one 2 as a plugin. Seems dropping each drum is an issue onto a DAW track. And the only way it’s working is as a wave file or midi ?
I thought recording in the DAW with separate tracks to each drum and mix output of EZD2 into DAW as a plugin was what this is all about ?

Should I post to a new forum title ? Man I feel like a total noob now,,, lol

Hi,

There is no need to Remove EZdrummer 1 before installing EZDrummer 2. Installing EZDrummer 2 will overwrite EZdrummer 1.

There are no known issues with EZdrummer 2 in Studio one. EZdrummer 2 can be used in multi out mode with Studio one.

This may be the confusion. You do not drop individual MIDI files to separate tracks. You only drag and drop the single MIDI file. You then route the individual outputs in EZdrummer’s mixer to channels in Studio one.

I have looked everywhere for this info, lol… Maybe the reason it’s not stated anywhere is because none of the above are an issue, lol

Although for example the Tom’s in some are all on the same mixer channel and stereo,,, I will see if I can figure a way to pull them into Studio separately,, Maybe pan and assign to it’s own track in studio one ?

This is really helpful,,, I was a little disappointed with the sales rep from my place of purchase as I went into detail how I wanted every drum on it’s own track and allow complete control of its mix quality… Which I would have chosen the SD2 if knowing this, as it was only $30 more because it was on sale, lol..
I guess it’s live and learn, I am new to ToonTracks.
EZD2 seems to be a great Product and can’t wait to dive in and make it mine
