I’m trying the free trial of EZDrummer 3 and loving it so far. I was planning to purchase but I’m running into an issue that seems like it could make the program unsuitable for my needs, unless I can find a solution – hoping someone here could help.
Basically I’m trying to record a performance from an e-drum kit (Roland TD-17) to go along with a backing track. It doesn’t seem like EZDrummer has an option to play along to a backing track (or I haven’t found one), so I’m monitoring from the e-drum module itself and just using EZDrummer to capture the MIDI data. I’d then like to preview the recorded performance along with the backing track and make sure it’s good before I take the time to bounce all the stems over to my DAW. The way I’ve found to do this is import the backing track to Bandmate, then drag up the recorded performance to replace the MIDI groove that it auto-generates.
My issue comes when I try to align the two tracks. Since I’m not playing to EZDrummer’s built-in metronome, the performance is gonna be off the grid. When I go to the Grid Editor, select all notes, and drag them onto the grid, it seems to work – except for some reason the hi-hat open/close transitions don’t move. In other words, if I open the hi-hat on count 4, then drag the entire groove back two beats, the hi-hat will still open on 4 even though the original “open” note is now supposed to be on count 2. I’ve checked and made sure that I’m also moving the pedal notes – the open/close articulation data seems to be stored somewhere else that I’m not able to see or move. Does anyone know how to fix this?
