So I downloaded the latest EZKeys installers for the various packs I have, and unlike earlier and other Toontrack updates, which simply update/install over the existing version…the current EZKeys MSI installers all trigger a pop up that says there is an existing version and it needs to be removed with Add/Remove Programs before the update will install.
HUH???
This is a PITA…!!!
I have Grand Piano, Mellotoon, Pipe Organ, Small Upright, String Machine, Studio Grand and Vintage Upright…all of the 2018-05-03 update installers trigger that pop-up and will not install automatically over the previous version.
Running Win 7…and all other Toontrack updaters for Superior Drummer work normal…so does the update for the EZKeys Player.
In the past the updates were EXE file updaters, and they automatically installed over the previous version..now with these current updater MSI files… it’s not working.
Hi,
does this mean you are not using the Product Manager? If not, please do.

I’ll use the Product Manager for the downloads…BUT…I run my DAW offline, so I’m not installing directly from the Product Manager.
Please keep that in mind…that not everyone runs their DAWs online.
All my updates for SD and sample packs and other things come with EXE files that work fine for installation…same as your previous EZKeys updates…to install automatically over the existing, older versions.
The EZKeys MSI files don’t….they require that old version first be removed.”
It’s not a serious problem to do that, but it makes the whole process more of a PITA, and also leaves you wondering if any previous work will be affected since you are removing a sample pack.
Not sure why things changed with the recent EZKeys updates from EXE to MSI installers.
the MSI are the base installers, and yes, they can’t be installed over one another, nor is there any reason to do this. Let me explain:
EZkeys products contain the software and a library (sound/MIDI). All of those components have separate updates available, you should find them on the site – and obviously when using the Product Manager.
They are also much smaller in size, so while you could download the full product again, remove the old version and reinstall, this is as you noted cumbersome, and more over this does not guarantee that the product will be fully up-to-date after these steps i.e dispense of installing the sound, MIDI and/or software updates.
I hope this clarifies.

I’m really not sure what you are saying above.
Again…you seem to be suggesting I use Prodcut Manager…but again…my DAW is always run OFFLINE…which doesn’t work with directly installing after downloading with Product Manager.
So again…can you provide installers for EZKeys (like you do with the SD3 and EZ2) that will install OVER the existing version?
Better yet, please explain your specific, step-by-step process for installing the EZKeys updates on *offline DAWs* that is the simplest and will guarantee all is up to date.
Hi,
I think what Rogue is saying is that the MSI Installers are for full products, which would only be installed once because after they are installed, you would only need updates, which are distributed as EXE files. Downloadable via the PM for plugins, sound libraries and MIDI.
Download on your online computer, transfer to your offline computer, as described at the end of this FAQ:

We have changed nothing at all in term of distribution of EZkeys products since (Grand Piano) was first released.
As per my earlier post and John’s follow up, you can download all the required ‘EXE’ updates using the Product Manager or directly from the website – obviously one of your computer has to be online to do this.
I attach a screenshot showing the updates relevant to this discussion, though the exact status (already downloaded/installed) may look different for you.

OK…I think I get what is being said.
So the MSI files were full products…not “updates” that come as EXE files…?
I guess what was confusing is that not too long ago, I saw an *update* for the Grand Piano, and based on it’s date stamp shown on downloads webpage, I realized it was newer than what I already had. So I downloaded it and installed it OVER my existing Grand Piano.
No problem.
Then just recently, I saw the entire Keys line had newer versions on the downloads page than what I already had, based on the file time stamps (I think they were added around the start of May) …so I assumed they were all new *updates*.
I downloaded and SAW were MSI instead of EXE files, and THEY needed the old versions first removed…which made me think you guys changed something.
It was confusing because they had been recently added (start of May)…and I simply thought they were new *updates*….but they were just updated versions of the full product, not patch updates.
I understand now.
Thanks
Do I have to buy and download ez keys Grand Piano to use any of the ez keys before any of the updates show in the product manager? I just purchase $700 dollars worth of product, you got to be kidding me? I purchased 12 of them all under 1.0.0 1.0.1 and 1.1.0 I see your at 1.3.2 Common on now, send me the new versions! so I don’t have to deal with downloading not user friendly applications. It shouldn’t be this difficult! I only get 3 weeks off to be in my studio. I don’t want to spend it fixing software application, due to EZ key versions!!!!!!!! Download the newest versions. Are you going to charge me for them? You should at least give me a free download of EZ keys toontracks Grand Piano.
Thank You

Can you clarify please? Are you asking if you need to have an EZkeys sound library to use EZkeys MIDI packs? If so, yes. You need an EZkeys sound library to use all EZkeys MIDI libraries.
