keyboard to computer

Greetings.

To my knowledge in order to hook up a keyboard to a computer/laptop I’ll need a Midi-to-USB cable.

Just so I don’t have to order more than one I’d like to make sure that these only come in 1 size. can someone confirm this for me please? thank you.

What about a midi interface of some kind and a basic midi cable?

That’s what I’ve always used
The Digidesign LE modules all have a dedicated midi section.
I think there are other cheap midi interfaces available.

A midi to USB cable might be a valid alternative. I don’t know.
I’m just reporting what I’ve done with very good results.
