In addition to the MIDI grooves that ship with EZdrummer (as well as the EZX expansion packs and Toontrack’s MIDI packs) there are plenty of 3rd party sources from companies like http://www.oddgrooves.com/ and http://www.groovemonkee.com/en/. You can also ‘roll your own’ MIDI grooves/performances if you have some kind of MIDI input device (keyboard or something like a Korg PadKontrol) and a DAW.

As for importing your own MIDI files. EZdrummer uses GM extended mapping which means it will play GM mapped MIDI just fine but has some special mappings (the extended part) for some of the articulations (hi hats mostly).

Thanks for the reply. Just to be sure, I can export the drum track from something like guitar pro into either EZ Drummer or Superior Drummer? If so, my only other problem is deciding which one to go for.

in principle yes, as far as you can export standard MIDI files with a relatively non esoteric mapping from your program you should be good to go. FYI EZdrummer does not allow for any remapping within the plugin while Superior does.

… I don’t think that should be your criteria for deciding between the two though as I have taken in some GP tracks in the past (exported MIDI and native files) and don’t remember having any issues, so presumably exporting anything but GM compliant files is either not possible or merely an option for the masochists out there 😉
